I toured the kid's area on a ship inspection a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed! Very large area, divided into programs for ages 3-6, 7-9, 10-12 and teens. We will be sailing the Caribbean Princess in December and my daughter has only done Disney cruises (MANY of them) with their exceptional children's programming area, so I was anxious to see what Princess had to offer.

Although not nearly as large as Disney's the area definitely looked fun, inviting and there was plenty to do. I have some photos and if I ever can upload them I will try and post them.

We have a group cruising together that will have one boy that will be 11 and one boy that will turn 10 in November...but we're cruising in the end of September. We decided to bring the 11-year-old along as "company" for the other boy. But now, it appears that they'll be in different age groups. Will the 9-year-old be close enough to 10 that they'll let him be in the older group? Can we just say he's 10? We haven't cruised Princess with kids before, so we're not sure how "strict" they are with the programs. There might not be too many kids onboard in September either, so I don't know if that will help or hurt us.

We will be traveling with our 12 1/2 (Oct 2nd cruise) and he will be bringing along his 13 year old friend (classmate from school - on fall break). I hope that they will allow then to combine somehow or else they will be roaming around together not in the program. Our son has sailed Disney, RCCL, and NCL; this being his 5th cruise. He is looking forward to the activities but if he can't be with his friend, then he will hang out outside of the program!

Anyone with more information on how this may work?

We're in that same predicament except we would allow the 11-year-old that we're bringing to "roam" around a little (but not all the time)on his own because he's pretty responsible but the Mom of the other boy will not. So...if they're not in the same program...they won't want to go so...they'll be with us adults all the time! Now...some of the time will be fine but...I think we might like some "relaxation" time on our own too!!

We set lmits for our son,to include time limits and knowing where he is at all times. NCL Star and Sky had a very weak pre-teen program and he refused to play duck, duck, goose and hung out in the arcade all week! Disney and RCCL had wonderful programs for all ages.

I really hope Princess has a strong program for this difficult age group too! (or at least be willing to let our 2 boys attend together) If not, they can call room service, swim, etc and hopefully find others around the same ages.

Best of luck to your family too.

Hey everyone,
I am so glad to know ahead of time there will bee a few children on the Nov. 6th. I plan to head back over to the roll call board soon. We are bringing our 2 daughters 7 and 9.

When we went on the Celebrity Horizon we were told that the older child could move down in the age group, but the younger child could not move up. They had all the information ready when we got there - they know the kids ages before sailing...so lying about the age probably will not help.

My 9 year old granddaughter will be accompanying me on the CP on Nov. 6th. I already know that I will not be able to tear her away from the kids' program after her experiences on previous Princess ships.

Grand Princess 7/02
NCL Norway 11/02

The carribean princess divides kids groups differently than what is stated on their website and brouchure which says 3-7, 9-11 and 12-17. CP has 3-6, 7-9 and 10-12. I spoke to princess 800 number and the rational for the diff age grouping is because of the new ship and size. This really stinks for me because I have a 5 and 7 year old. The older child can float down to the younger group. I just hope she is not board. They hate doing things apart. Good luck

The only way I knew about the different age group was that I was viewing a set of CP pics and in one of them was a pictuer of one of the kids areas and the door said "10-12". Skyler will only be 6 weeks shy of 10 so I'm hoping that we can "boost" him into that group to be with Austin!!!
