I second the recommendation for a September or early October cruise, based on SF weather patterns. I'm available from 9/8 thru 10/11, except for SF Opera afternoons on 9/19, 9/26 and 10/3.

I called Hornblower and was able to save us about $5 each by doing a group rate. So, the regular rate, with tax would have been $61.64, and our price will be $55.15 per person for those over 12. If you are bringing kids, 4-12 costs $37.53, under 4 free. Just booked a 2 day Pacific Coastal Cruise from San Francisco to Vancouver on the Coral Princess sailing on 5/12/05. Anybody from the Bay Area want to go? We did it as a short getaway that would give my husband the 5 Princess cruises he needed to be a Platinum Circle member for our next cruise after that to Alaska. Tried to book back to back cruises, the second one being Vancouver to Alaska but was told by Princess that it was in violation of the Jones act. So I guess we'll have to wait until 2006 for that one. Will ask my DH about the Hornblower.

Cheryl.. be forewarned that the northbound coastal cruises are a bit rougher than the southbound ones. The Sapphire 2-day Vancouver to SF on 9/20/04 just went on sale for $199pp balconies, so if you can go sooner to get that next cruise, that one looks like a winner!

Cheryl, who do you play your flute with? My hubby plays string bass with the Vallejo Symphony - for over 20 years now. We just moved from Vallejo to Brentwood and I think he needs to hook up some Contra Costa groups. He also plays bass guitar with an R & B Band.

I don't think taking your own wine is allowed Joyride. Its a restaurant after all. I don't recall about the coffee... but I like Princess coffee (put in so much cream and sugar I can't tell the difference)! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

sapphire.. Pride of Aloha is going to be a great option for doing the Hawaiian islands. I prefer Princess on a "regular" cruise though.

Hey everyone,

This new board format takes a little getting used to. Hope everyone is well, and had a great 4th! My husband and I were on the GG Bridge on Saturday and saw one of the HornBlower ships getting ready to sail underneath us.

This is going to be fun! I've never been on Hornblower before, although my hubby had an expierence years ago that included Hornblower Champange brunch and a 49nr game. It was with the guys and all I remember was that he arrived home and sort of passed out! It's probably one of 5 times in over 20 years of marriage that I have seen him in that condition!

So Suzy, do we have any new joiners???

I was in Vegas for a conference for 5 nights.. but it seems like two weeks to catch up! ANYWAY, to answer your question, its a buffet with LOTS of choices. We have some new sign-ups that are additions to folks already coming, so here is the update!

Vegas was very educational! All day long for 5 straight days I learned more travel stuff. Not much time for fun though.. at all. I'll have to go back sometime when I'm not attending a conference!

I just wanted to say Woo Hoo! Only a week until our brunch cruise! I'd still like to know Neil & Kim's online CC name, but other than that we're good to go!

Hello!

The answer is that you don't have to do anything special, or wear anything weird. I might wear my cruise critic T-shirt to identify me, but you all know my picture anyway. Just walk up, board, and tell them you are part of the Suzette Poulter Group, or even the Suzy Cruisy group, and they will show you to the group of seats that are reserved for us. Hornblower doesn't know any of your names, so its important that you remember mine! ;)

See you at Pier 33, around 10:30am, and be prepared to pay $10 for parking!
