RE: Diamond and Sapphire : Can any one tell me about Cat. E partially obstructed cabins, I looked at the deck plans and can't see how obstructed the cabins are. I believe they are on the Emerald deck between the life boat areas, not at the life boat areas. Is there superstructure not visible on the deck plans perhaps. Anyone that has been onboard ? Would appreciate any help with this. Also am I correct in thinking that if I book Cat E Guarntee, I will get that or (upgrade fairy :-) ) better ?? Just not quite sure. Thanks you guys always seem to have the answers.

Cori.. Category E's are awesome on all Grand/Diamond class ships. They are considered "partially obstructed" so you get a value. However, all that is usually in front of them is maybe a stray rope hanging down or a thin pole or something immaterial to you actually enjoying the view.

There are many opinions on the guarantee situation. I think ON PRINCESS you should just pick a cabin. On other lines, a guarantee is the only way to dream of a visit from the upgade fairy. I've seen some placings lately that were guaranteed and were placed into the same category they guaranteed for. (Meaning they upgraded the folks already in the cabins OUT to make room for the guarantee folks.)

Your choice on that part.. but E is cool!

Thanks Suzy , hard to tell on the deck plans exactly what it is. Appreciate your help. Now I just have to decide where and when :-) Thanks again.

Beleive the obstruction is those small cannisters (and their racks) which hold inflatable lifeboats.

They roll off the racks, when loosened, not unlike depth charges on the fantail of destroyers.

Thanks Michael .. I called Princess this morning they couldn't really tell me other than it says partially obstructed, what you say makes sense. Appreciate your help. : )

On the Grand my view was obstructed by a tender. You could still see around it some and for a few days you could see right through it as the door cover was off for repairs. Still loved the trip!
