We are booked on the Aloha Deck, BC category room, mid-ship for our August cruise. From what I understand from reading other postings we will have a small covered balcony.
1) Is this correct
2) Will we get sun
3) What do most people prefer: a higher deck or a larger balcony
This is our first cruise so we are learning as we go. Thanks

Yes, the balcony is small but there is room for two people to sit down on the plastic chairs and there is a small table too. There is enough room for two people sit out and enjoy the ocean blue, but don't expect to be able to dance! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Depending on the time of day and what side of the ship you are on, you will get sun. If it is noon, no you will not get sun.
The balcony is not sticking out so people can't easily see you. I personally like higher deck than bigger balcony. What I use the standard balcony for will be the same for the lager balcony, why pay more money if you don't need to. It all depends on your personal preference. I will be on the Aloha deck mid ship and was upgraded to Caribe Deck but turned it down due to the balcony sticking out and people looking down on us. (But that is just my preference). Hope this helps.

We had a BC on Aloha for the 3 day last year and the balcony was big enough for the two of us plus our son and dil and 2 year old grandson (they had an inside room and our grandson didn't believe he was on a ship except on deck or in our room!)We just dragged our room chairs out there too. It was covered, and not totally private, but enough so--no one could drip ice cream on our heads and that works for me! Have the same category booked on the Sapphire--sure hope it has better luck than the Diamond has, with smells & power outages & hitting docks! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
