We are booked on the Coral Princess Panama Canal cruise next March. We are all in our mid 40's. My TA tried to discourage us from taking this cruise because she says there will be mostly much older people on the cruise and we might not enjoy it. I know that on longer cruises the passengers tend to be older, but surely there will be some folks our age as well. We're going either way, but it would be nice to hear at our age we won't be the youngest on the ship! Does anyone have any input?

We are in our 30's and sailed on the Island Princess(Coral's sister) 10 day Canal cruise last year and had a great time. Yes the pax age is older than a 7 day cruise but unless your the type looking for a late night party in the disco I don't see how it makes much difference. Actually it was nice because the pool areas never really got overcrowded.

It is a great ship you'll have a great time.

Scott - I hadn't thought about the advantage of seats by the pool! That's definitely a positive. We are not late night partiers by any means, but do like to find people we have something in common with to talk to. Dinner conversations can really drag if you don't. I know we'll have a great time, my TA's attitude worries me some, though.

We were on the Island in March for a Panama Canal Cruise. Yes, it was a much older crowd, but we had about 25 people from CC that met up on board and most of us ended up hanging out a lot on the cruise. I got "adopted" on the cruise by two grandmother types and it was great to see them each day. We always got a seat at the pool and a lot of activities weren't as crowded as they had been on other cruises. I would n't worry about it. Do take the time to add a post on the Roll Call board. The people that we met were great. We hope to see them on another cruise again someday.

I just was on the 18 day repositioning cruise from FLL to Vancouver. I am 28 and it was the best cruise of the 20 I have been on. Yes, the age will be older on any cruise longer than 7 dyas, but there certainly was not a lack of things to do. The only negative thing I could thing of was that there was no on ein the disco after 11:30, but if you are not into that like I am not, it will be no big deal. Have the variety of ages, spreads people out onboard and makes this ship seem even more spacious. It is such a great ship I am going back on her next week.

Hi

I have been trying to find out the same things.

scheduled for coral for november 2004 - hoping that there is at least some night life - does any one know if there is a dj in the explorer's lounge with people dancing after 10:00PM and how is the band in the Explorer's

cruise prices have really risen - don't want to change because of price -

We have been on the Island and Coral and loved it. The 10 day cruise does have an older group.
We don't party much so can't answer the disco question. We are 42 & 41 and enjoyed it very much. Oh I forgot, don't be fooled by the age group, they will save chairs!

We sailed the Coral Panama Canal in February and it was by far the oldest sailing of any we've been on ... including Holland America. That said, there were still lots of younger (than us) couples, and about 30 CCers we enjoyed meeting at sailaway. This is a great trip. You'll love it!

Like I said earlier, ther eis a DJ, but not a whole lot going on in there. I would think that the average age would be even older on the 18 day sailing. I would not let the lack of a lot of people in the disco deter you from this ship. The PC is worth trip in itself, but the cruise staff really did a great job finding something for everyone.

We are booked on the Coral for the New Years sailing. We are both 40 and I do not have any reservations about age incompatabilities with fellow shipmates. I have found on previous cruises that age doesn't really matter in being able find people with comparable interests

I could not agree with you more. I had the time of my life on the coral. I personally think people older than me are a lot more interesting.

We were on the Coral Panama Canal cruise in December. I would guess the average age of passangers to be 65. We are early to mid fifties and had a GREAT time. And, as someone mentioned, their is no problem finding a place around the pool (most of the FOP's like to stay in the shade).

We are also in our 40's and booked for the Coral next March (3/18/05). We aren't too worried about lack of night life (we're old fuddy-duddies ourselves). The only thing I have seen on these boards is a lack of late night disco action. A show, a movie or a reasonable band in one of the bars/clubs will handle our night life needs quite well http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.
