Mexican Riviera on Shrove Tuesday

Sailing the O'dam 2/17/07 & will be in Mazatlan on Shrove Tuesday/ end of Mardi Gras. Anyone been there then? What can we expect? Heard there's usually 300,00 people in town then! What a crowd!! What should we be certain not to miss there? We want to eat local. Anyone have suggestions?
