Hello Everyone!
I am about to "lock in" to the MR 2007 repositioning cruise of Rio to Barcelona.
Are there any reviews for this trip? good/bad/great?
How is the "weather" for a transatlantic crossing in late March, early April?
Rough seas? Cold/Hot? - warm (well, keeping in mind that we're from Ontario, Canada - so anything above "0" at that time of year is warm !!!).
The cabin that we are looking at is Category D, Deck 3. I am a little concerned about being on the "bottom" of the boat. Is there anyone with experiences with D, Deck 3?
In appreciation of all responses (this will be our first Oceania cruise, never mind first time crossing the Atlantic).

Hi, my wife and are are also from Ontario and are taking the same cruise as you. We have cruised before, though not on Oceania. I can however answer a couple of your questions. Generally speaking, the lower the deck the less ship motion you feel. Since it will be late summer, early fall in the Southern Hemisphere and we are crossing the equator :) I am sure the weather will be HOT!

Way back in Mar 98, we did a Buenos Aires/Barcelona trans-Atlantic on the late great Royal Princess.
The actual crossing (Point A to Point B) was from Recife Brazil to Dakar Senegal, and the water was like a millpond - glassy smooth. It was our smoothest trans-Atlantic, out of some 1/2 dozen or so.
That said, you never know about the sea-state and weather conditions. It can be clear and smooth one day, and full gale in a couple of hours.
Rough seas can be adventurous!
I'm sure you will enjoy Oceania. We were on Regatta into the Baltic last August - and enjoyed the best food that we have had in 30+ cruises. We are booked on Nautica this November, Istanbul to Singapore, through the Suez.

Thank you for the replies - we are looking forward to this trip!
David & Patricia, will you be flying out of Toronto? and are you thinking of an air deviation to visit Rio for a couple of days prior?
We are considering flying out on the 22nd (to arrive in Rio on the 23rd).
Kind regards,
Heather

We are also seriously considering this cruise (thisclose to booking). What we’d really like to do is go to Iguassu Falls for a few days prior. From what I’ve been reading, a day in Rio before will take care of everything we want to see there.

Yes, flying out of Toronto and will probably also leave a couple of days early. We defientely will be spending some post cruise time in Barcelona as it is one of our favourite cities in Europe. You can contact us at chanter@videotron.ca
