If I am disembarking from the Caribbean Princess on 8/21, would a flight leaving Ft. Lauderdale between 11:15 and 11:30 be acceptable or too early. Next flight is after 4 so while I really wouldn't mind waiting I would like to avoid hours in the airport, since you probably can't check your luggage too early and go out for lunch. (or can you)

11:15am might be cutting it just a weebit short. That's a Saturday and the FLL airport can resemble a zoo sometimes. They do a pretty good of a job with the security checks but you will encounter Disney like lines of people. We usually try for closer to 12 noon. Plus, as you will read many times on this board, delays in getting off the ship can happen. At the least plan on taking a cab, DO NOT use Princess transfers. Good luck!

My last flight was at 10:30. We were at the gate at 8:45. If every thing goes according to schedule you should make a 11:15 flight. Go to the pursers desk and show them your tickets. They will give you RED luggage tags which means you will be in the first group off the ship. As mentioned above take a cab to the airport. Cost is $10-$15 and they will have you there in 10 minutes or less.
Be prepared for the unexpected. Things don't always go as scheduled and if there is a customs issue or other delay you might miss the flight. The odds are in your favor but be prepered just in case.
Here is the time line of my last cruise.
8:10 Disembarkation begins
8:15 We are off ship
8:25 We have our luggage and cleared customs
8:35 Arrive at airport
8:45 Through security and sitting at gate (since you are early the airport isn't busy yet)

You also might check to see how many ships are disembarking that day, it helps to know how crowded the airport will be with cruise passengers.
We have taken many 11:15 flights out of FLL and never even come close to missing any of them. Usually you are at the airport long before 10:00.
I would check with the pursers desk and make sure you are in one of the first groups off if you are concerned, that will assure you that you can grab a taxi and get their in plenty of time.

We had an 11:15 am flight out of FLL after disembarking on Saturday May 8th from the Caribbean Princess. We received red #1 luggage tags and we were off the ship before 8 am! We bought magazines at the airport and had to kill lots of time. I didn't know disembarkation would start so early. So if you want to eat before leaving that morning, wake early.

Sounds like everyone has had good experiences. We're going to try for the 11:30 flight and see what happens http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I won't hold any of you responsible if for some reason it doesn't work out!!
