Since there is a duty free shop at the pier in San Juan, has anybody been able to purchase liquor here and carry it on board with them?
Also, can we make the dining arrangements for Sabitinis, etc. once on board and where do we do this?
Anybody stay in the mini suites on the Golden? We're booked in an AA minisuite, cabin 504 on the Dolphin deck. Has anyone stayed here? How big is the balcony? Are there lounge chairs out there like in the pictures or do we order them?
Thanks!

Carolyn: I have my doubts about you buying
liquor at the shop in San Juan and taking it
on the ship. I did that once on Royal Caribbean
and they took the liquor away from me when we
got on board. Of course I got it back at the
end of the cruise, but I wanted to use it while
on the ship. As far as reservations for the
reastaurant, you should be able to make them
as soon as you get to your cabin. The Patter
should be in your cabin with phone number.

Carolyn-
We were in D504 on the Golden for the 5/9 - 5/16 sailing. Excellent location mid ship - close proximity to elevators and stairs! We asked our cabin steward(James) for a lounge chair but he felt that it wouldn't fit. There are 4 chairs out there - 2 of which recline and you can use the table as a foot stool.
Be aware that the balcony is fully exposed - so the people above you can see you!
As far as Sabatini's - they had a table set up right outside Sabatini's to take reservations the afternoon of embarkation.
Bon Voyage!

Hi,
On the Princess lines they allow you to bring wine on board anytime you would like, but no beer and be careful with the hard liquor, that can be taken till end of trip. We brought 4 bottles of wine for use in our cabin or at dinner- they checked out the bottles upon entry to ship and then let us thru. There is a small corkage fee of $10 in the dining room.

You can buy liquor on board for in-cabin use at quite reasonable prices. The liquor/mixer packages available through room service are really a pretty good deal. The bottles are small (375 ml) but just right for a short cruise. And, if you run out, you can always order more.
Larger (1 litre) bottles can be purchased at the bar by the Neptune pool. A bottle of Stoli is $20, which is cheaper than what I can buy it for at home.

There is a duty free shop at the cruise terminal in San Juan and it seemed like they were allowing passengers to bring aboard liquor and take to their cabin. I didn't see any confiscated. We only bought soda and water, so I can't tell you for certain.

Thaqt duty free shop at the Princess terminal has a good variety of wine and all kinds of booze. We bought several bottles of wine and a variety of those little sample bottles of bourbon, rum, and Baileys. We jut hid the little bottles in our carry-ons, and no one said anything about taking the large bottles of wine on board.

We also had no problem bring our purchase aboard when we took our cruise in January.
