We did the Glass Bottomed Boat in Freeport Bahamas and really liked it. It was just a relaxing excursion. In Nassau we did the Dolphin Encounter which actually ended up being the highlight of my trip. Have a great trip!

I have done the glass bottom boat in Nassau. I really enjoyed it. It is a good way to see the sights underwater, without getting wet. They also take you past some very pretty scenery before you get to the spot where you go to the lower deck on the boat. If it is the same as when I did it, I would recommend it.

Did you book this excursion thru the ship or on your own? My family is looking for something like this to do in Oct. I've heard there are good ones and not so good ones. Which one did you use?

I booked the tour through the cruise line. I was sailing on Carnival.

We did the glass bottom boat in Nassau and did not think it was worth the money. Word of caution if you go on it ---Watch your toes when boarding. My daughter had her toe run over by the ramp to board as well as a person a few places in front of us. She ended up crying the whole time with her toe bleeding (she lost a toe nail over it) and no crew member offered to help. We did not see very many fish through the glass bottom and were very disappointed with the whole trip.

Has anyone ever booked a glass bottom boat tour on Nassau without going through the cruise line? Or, can you tell me more about the price of Carnival's excursion as well as what time of day, etc?

I believe the price of the tour through the ship was $35 when I did it. That was in 2004 though. I am sure it has gone up. I cannot recall the times, as it has been awhile.

The cost is still $35.00 and it lasts for 1.5 hours, however the website doesn't say what time it starts. hope this helps

We went on the glass bottom boat tour in April 06 in Nassau. We did not book it with Carnival. We just walked up to the boat and paid. I think it was $35 for me and my 6 year old. We just talked to the captain of the boat. It was one of the most memorable experiences we ever had. The man that talked and guided the tour was the stereotypical "yeah, mon" guy. He pointed out celebrity homes, a huge mansion for sale for 2.5 million. He ended almost everything he said with "mon". We LOVED it!! They of course gave you a free "rum punch" (Hawaiian punch with a splash of rum) or a virgin punch for the kids.
It was great and worth it. I wouldn't book that through the ship for anything. I got a MUCH better deal just talking to the crewman and the captain at the dock.
