Car rental on St.Maarten

We visited this beautiful island, but back then we had bus tour of both sides...

This time around we want to rent a car... I see couple of rental Hertz agencies with addresses

St.Maarten Phillipsburg Station
St.Maarten Port de Plaisance Hotel

What location isn't far from Phillipsburg Port?

Is there any agencies that pick you up in port?

I am doing the same research and have read positive things about Hertz and Panoramic. I also can't find a the correct Hertz location however, so I expect to send an email or call. The correct location would say something about the port or Point Blanche.

Supposedly Hertz has a booth at the port, and they take you to a lot a short distance away. Panoramic will meet you at the port and take you 2-3 minutes to their lot.

I have read mixed reviews of the others close to the port.

This past February we rented from Panoramic for three weeks. We initially had an issue that Mohamed corrected right away, and he then tried to give us a free upgrade into a SUV type vehicle worth a lot more (we didn't need it, so turned him down).
To let you know how we feel about Panoramic - we're again renting from Mohamed this coming February for over three weeks.
On previous trips we have rented from other local firms - AAA car rental and St. Louis car rental, and were very satisfied with them.
Bottom line is - there are a number of good, dependable local car rental outfits on the island and I wouldn't hesitate to use them.
