We had a category VD on the Westerdam, starboard side, near aft cabin 4169. We loved it!

4176. Larger than most other VA's and a huge deck plus only one or two decks from the public areas! :)

6169 on the Zuidredam was terrific and I have read that you are completely open ... not correct; there is some overhang to get privacy and shade.

For those of you who have had an aft balcony on the Upper Promenade Dec on the Westerdam...is being right above the dining room a problem in any way?

Also, do you know if the rooms/balcony on this deck are any larger than the ones on the Rotterdam Deck?

Thanks in advance!

Had an aft VA on the Westerdam in June -- The aft VA's are a little longer than a normal VA -- no extra furniture but there are spaces between the bed and the wall, the bed and the couch that are not present in the other VA cabins -- a little more room to move around in. The balcony is large and nice. Be aware, however, that on deck 4 you can hear the engines and feel vibrations that at times were so loud that we could not, for instance, hear our friends when they knocked on the cabin door. (We were in 4176). I am usually the first to complain if we have no sensation of motion or engines -- when I am at sea I want to know that I am at sea and not in a hotel or my home on land....I would take an aft cabin again, but probably on a higher deck, a bit farther from the engines. Most of the time we were not bothered but when the ship was up to speed it could be a bit nerve racking. Possibly cabins more to the sides of the aft area would not hear and feel the vibes as much. Never tried those spaces so I do not know.
