There may have been some dining time changes since I last cruised w/ HAL. What are the exact starting dining times for each of the following:

Early Upper; Early Lower; Main Upper; and Main Lower...

Thanks...

We are sailing on the Veendam on September 24th and I happened to write to HAL regarding our dining room reservation a few months ago. Here is the reply regarding the times.

Thank you for your inquiry regarding dining requests onboard. Although Holland America Line offers open seating for breakfast and lunch, there are four sittings for dinner. Dinner hours are between 5:30 p.m, 6:00 p.m, 7:45 p.m, and 8:15 p.m. You may request any sitting, as well as table size, and with whom you wish to sit. All such requests should be made in advance of sailing. Requests for a particular time will be confirmed or waitlisted at the time of booking. Table numbers and table size are on request only and will be assigned by the Maitre d' on board. Holland America reserves the right to adjust times based on operational needs.

I was told on this Board that the times should be 15 minutes later, as apparently these are the times for Alaska which has dinner earlier.

We will know the correct times when we go on board in Vancouver for our 34 day cruise.

As far as I know only the Alaskan cruises (except Oosterdam) have the 5:30, 6, 7:45, and 8:15 dining times.

Once that season is over and the ships go to other destinations, then the dining times go back to 5:45, 6:15, 8, and 8:30.

Jennie & KK, thanks for the info....Would appear that no changes in DR times for Veendan Carib cruise...same times as before....Was just a little curious in view of another current thread on some proposed DR time changes...
