Important Information
5:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2006:
We are currently monitoring Tropical Storm Chris very closely as it moves through the Eastern Caribbean.

The current voyages of the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will not be impacted by this storm.

At this time, we do not anticipate any changes in the August 3, 2006 sailing of the Disney Wonder or the August 5, 2006 sailing of the Disney Magic.

The safety of our guests and crew is always our top priority. If necessary, our Captains are always prepared to alter the ships' itineraries to navigate away from inclement weather for the safety and well being of our guests.

Is anyone concerned about storms interfering with their cruise? Don't be too concerned but there's still a few things that you should know.
First, cruises very rarely get cancelled. The ships have the ability to out maneuver storms and hurricanes. If the storm goes east, the ships go west, if the storm runs up the coast, the ships go to the Gulf. If the storm goes right over your itinerary, you'll end up going to different ports. You might not go to where you were planning but your cruise will go on. Two years ago, a hurricane went right over Port Canaveral so passenegers debarked and embarked at Ft. Lauderdale and got bussed to Orlando.
Second, if your cruise changes itenerary and you are put out, many cruise lines offer some compensation like cabin credits or discounts on future cruises. Know that they don't have to do this, your contract allows them to change itinerary without notice. They do this because they value you as a customer not because they have to.
Third, though the cruise will sail during a storm threat, the airlines might not fly. If there's a storm heading for FL before you board, you should seriously consider flying in the previous day. This gives you more time to change your travel plans if necessary to make sure that you get to the port and board the ship on time.
Last, Seasickness happens. The ships are big and use gyroscopic controlled stabilizers but they can still roll when the seas are big enough. If you know that you get seasick or don't know if you do, consider a sea sickness remedy. I like Meclizine but it might not work for you. You should try a new medicine at home on a day when you aren't doing much to see if it has side effects with you like dizzyness, blurred vision or dry mouth.
The most important thing is that you stay informed. On Disneycruise.com there's a trpical weather update right in the middle of the page.
Enjoy your cruise.
