can anyone tell me about the HAL motorcoach service from New Haven to NYC? I found out the pickup/dropoff point and the price but why would the dropoff (2:15 pm) be so late? Are motorcoach passengers last off the ship?

We're taking the coach from New London on our trip (part of the promo HP). When I asked HAL the pickup time they told me 08:30 whith a pierside time of 14:30 in NYC. I don't think they know what they are talking about. The bus starts in Boston and makes stops in Providance, New London and New Haven. I'm going to call HAL back as time gets closer to find out who the carrier is thne call them direct for the schedule if it's not clear in the docs.

Hi Navy Chief and Albert:

I just wanted to say hi to other Connecticut folks.

Navy Chief, I have read so many of your postings that I feel like I know you.

I wish you both a great cruise. I have to wait until March for my next cruise.

Regards,
Arlene

To answer your question about bus times---I suspect they are quoting outside limits.
When I took the HAL bus from/to Providence we had our own bus. I believe how many busses/how many stops depends on how many passengers are coming from New England.

Everyone for my bus had the same color tag/number for disembarkation so we were all off about the same time. It was hardly last, though.
We had a 1/2 hour pit stop at a Connecticut rest area, but since you are already down so far I doubt you would.

Well Shipmate, your on the same cruise as our group. Please log into the Roll Call so we can keep track of the CC folks on this cruise. So far we have 35 in the group. I am scheduling a "meet and greet" the 1st day at sea.

Chief what's your secret in getting a group of 35 together for a trip? I want to get an Alaska trip going. I was also wondering about the bus transfers myself as we are considering Noordam for a trip in '07, for now we have to settle for O'dam on 10/7/06 :D

For Bulldog, the price is $89pp round trip, not bad!

Thanks for the info Albertiger, trying to figure the best alternatives for the NY port.. Being parking at the peir or taking the bus:rolleyes: .. It is a nice change of pace rather than having to worry about airfare:)

Well Frank, sorry for the long time for the reply. We just got power restored here. Had to go to a Hotel last night. Power went down about 19:30 Thusday evening with the storm and from what I can tell by the clocks, was restored at 03:00 this morning. :( I have some bills to dump on CL&P as they are so quick to raise our rates as the rest of my fellow CT mates will attest to. Anyway, back on topic. It just appears that we have a large number of fellow Cruise Critic posters going on this trip. More than I've seen in the past. So when I started the Roll Call thread I expected a few but the number seemed to shoot up as of late which is really great to see.

Chief no problem, hope you didnt have any damage to your home. My father live down in RI, he said that some of the storms were microbursts. raised holy heck with the trees. Hope you and some of the others will post your "review" of the Noordam, looking into a trip from NYC on her myself. Would be nice to just take the bus over there rather than fly to departure port. :)
