View Full Version : Free Advice Here: Set up two meeting times on roll call board

Be sure when visiting the roll call board that you set up two meeting times with your group. I really wanted to meet my friends here from CC, but we ended up having 5:45 dinner and missed them all by just a few minutes.
If you are sincere about wanting to meet your friends, set up two times before you go. That way if you miss them on the first one you might catch them on the next! Hope this helps another group.

Also, make plansfor various activies during the sea days. Planning a wine tasting party where everyone brings a bottle of wine. That was nice.
The first cruise day is rather hectic and I dont think I could ever make a meeting at 4:30 when we always do early seating for dinner.
We made our first meeting at 10:30 the first night. Was awesome.

Oceantravel,
Thanks for the great suggestion - next cruise we are going to follow your advice so we don't miss meeting any of the other C.C. members!

We try to avoid planning much more than an initial meeting because, to be quite frank, there have been some that, after actually meeting them http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif, we would not care to share any more time with (yes, we know this can work both ways - but not likely http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)
Granted this is more the exception than the rule... just leave your options open --- it is easier than making up excuses after the fact... http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

LOL Tom, been there, done that!
On our first cruise after discovering CC we took one look at the bunch of ya-hoo's that had gathered in the designated place from 6 decks away in the atrium then hid the rest of the cruise! I didn't attend a CC meet and greet for the next 3 cruises.
What a mistake
The CC members we met on subsequent cruises, especially our last one, last month, have been some of the nicest people we've met at sea or on land.
After a lifetime of working with the public our default setting for cruises is isolation and relaxation. But meeting the CC members is now one of the highlights of the cruise and it's nice to see a familiar face from time to time around the ship or ashore.
Exchanging stories or figuring out the unknown with someone you "know" adds a rich dimension to the cruise that makes it even more fun for us.
For members reading this that don't post much but are here alot (I can feel your presence) you should go to these things. It's mostly a bunch of people you've "come to know" on line but they are breathing. Contrary to popular legend, not all CC members are heavy drinkers, partiers and otherwise scary extreme humans.
The cool thing is you DO have something in common with all of them; your love of cruising, the fact that you are on the same ship, going the same place, doing the same things, etc.
In most cases we would see members from time to time but were in no way obligated to spend time with them and they didn't come around wanting us to join in some activity we had no desire to do.
One thing I wish we'd do though is have a meet on the last day. That would be fun although our roll call threads seem to live on after the cruises.
Happy Cruising

there's definitely plenty of people who read the roll calls but don't post...
On my cruise I ended up meeting a guy who was like, "Wait did you post on that message board? I recognize you from the pictures." It was so cool
As far as meeting CCers... we had the best bunch in our group! We liked all the ones we met.
