I upgraded from a Cat. 8 balcony to a Cat.11 Suite for $50./pp

originally purchased an 8A on the Triumph and was upgraded to an 8E with a 'past guest offer'.
Noticed a price change yesterday, called my PVP and got an upgrade to a mini-suite for $50. more per person. I didn't ask for a credit vs. the upgrade as I really wanted to surprise my new 'Sweetie' with the Suite! She's smiling http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I tried to pay for an upgrade about a month ago and was told that I cannot because the PG offer has expired that we booked under. They said I would have to cancel and rebook and pay the rate the 8A's were going for now. Congrats to you, thats a good deal ~

We did better than that, our past cruise was booked as an 8A balcony guarantee and when we got to port and up to our room, it was a category 11!!
Loved that Carnival Legend!

I was told the same thing when I checked into an upgrade. However the carnival rep told me that I could upgrade to a bigger balcony on a lower level but it is obstructed and I think we will stay where we are http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

I surprised my family with an upgrade from an 8G to an 11. I asked our TA if he could do something when I saw a price drop and that's what we got. I didn't tell my DH or kids. They were clueless even when we went through the Skippers Club. I just told them that everyone with balconies got to use the Skippers Club. They didn't know a thing until we walked into the cabin. It was sooo hard to keep that secret for the 4 weeks or so that I knew about it before the cruise.

katgar: that is basically what I did, except I had to pay a little extra for it. I saw the suite available, and asked for a specific cabin.
Hey, maybe I'll get a Cat. 12 when I get there. My PVP said it's too late to send luggage tags, so just get them 'at the gate'!
