Is NOLA port in New Orleans or Gulfport MS?

I have seen many references to people mentioning "Gulfport" when referring to sailing out of New Orleans. Other people say it (the port) is very close to the French Quarter. What is up with this?

Gulfport, MS and New Orleans (NOLA) are 2 different ports. Carnival was using Gulfport last year for several sailings because of the Mississippi River water levels were making it dangerous for the Conquest to dock in NOLA due to low power lines/high water levels.

Carnival is supposed to be sailing from Gulfport later this year or early next year I think.

NOLA/New Orleans is the port near the French Quarter.

Hmmmm. I live in Gulfport, and haven't heard any formal announcement about our acquiring a Carnival ship in the near future.

As of now, as some of you know, our main port is a freight terminal...lotsa bananas, but a long way to go to become a full-service cruise ship port. *sigh*

Maybe you're thinking of the new Mobile terminal where the Holiday will be sailing from next year?
