Are there any perks in the SS suites over the V cat. balcony cabins, other than the obvious size difference?

Personalized stationary, borrowing movie DVD's at no charge, better towels. Approximately the same perks as the mini suites on S and R class ships.

Bathroom is much nicer--double sinks, separate shower from tub, larger balcony on vista class.

Thanks for the replies. Just trying to decide which cat. to book on the Zuiderdam, and if the SS are worth the extra $340/cabin over the VC balcony. I guess I'm trying to convince myself(and my DH) that it is!!!

Let me tell you a quick story! :D
THe first cruise my DH and i ever went on, we had an inside cabin. He was happy with it and said "any cruise we go on, we will get the inside cabin and save money".
The next cruise after that we were looking at was on the O. *I* was in charge of booking and planning so I found a great price for an SS "suite".
when we got on board, out mouths dropped at the HUGE ;) size of the SS cabin compared to our little inside room. We loved the nice size balcony and sitting area. as well as the wonderful bathroom.
After that cruise, my husband told me "any cruise we go on, we are going to get this type cabin... screw saving money". :D
Next cruise comes up, I am in charge of planning... again, and i con him into getting an S suite.
You can guess what he said with that.... every cruise since, we have gotten a suite. :)
Moral to my story: You will LOVE the SS, and if you do like louging in your cabin and having some privacy, you will LOVE the SS! :)
Happy Sailings!

Lola....
Thanks for your little story. That's what I'm afraid of.....getting spoiled forever!!! Can't afford to get suites all the time. Always book regular balcony cabins. We cruise with our 2 young children so paying 4 fares adds up. The only saving grace is the LOW fares for the 3rd and 4th over what we have paid previously on Princess, Celebrity and Carnival. I'm sure we'd love the SS and that's what I'm leaning towards....need to just make a decision.

$340 more? Per-person, or total? Even IF it's per-person, it's worth it. The extra space in the cabin and the bathroom, alone, is worth the extra price. The balcony being larger is ALSO very nice. And particularly so on the Vistas, where the V category is actually a bit smaller than the A/B on the S and R ships.
I've been in the SS and I really liked it.
As for going "down" ... I'm happy in an inside cabin, even after having had the SS. For me, it's just the joy of being aboard ship that has spoiled me. Once you've been on deck, you don't want to stay on land!!!! :D

THe $340 is total, not per person. Since this AM, I have convinced myself to go ahead and book the SS since it seems to be such a good price for that category. I'm sure we'll be very happy.....now just have wait 3 more months!!

EXCELLENT. That price-difference is a no-brainer.

We were in a SS cabin on the Oosterdam to Mexico and absolutely loved it. Trust me, it is well worth the difference if you can do that. The double sink in the bathroom was a real luxury and for about the first time ever on any cruise ship I wasn't constantly running in to the furniture . Hubby and I could even pass each other in the room without having to turn side ways and I think I ended up with many less bruise marks. (From the furniture, not from DH.) The balcony was great too. Big enough to move around on!

We loved our SS catagory cabin on the Oosterdam. We spent lots of time on the comfortable balcony. The extra space in the cabin was also wonderful.
As far as upgrading to the S catagory, there is an increase in perks. For us, we didn't feel we would use the Neptune Lounge too much, although we would have enjoyed the priority tendering , and embarkation.
Overall the SS catagory met our needs (and wants) perfectly. I hope you decide to go for it!

We did go ahead and book the SS and were lucky enough to get ss8094 which is on the aft "bump out", therefore the balcony is larger and there is a little more interior space. My mom is traveling with us and has ss8092 so there should be plenty of room for the 5 of us! Can't wait!

Thanks! I guess I can thank my TA for the good rate. Haven't sailed HAL for about 6 years. Looking forward to trying it again. And in an SS suite to boot! How could we not love it? I was not able to get the link you posted.
