Since HAL has eliminated the laundry rooms on the Noordam, can anyone tell me what kind of laundry service is offered? Is there a set price? How does it work?
We are on the Aug 8 sailing and I'm just starting to pack. Any info you have would be helpful.:)

Laundry can be handled three ways:

by the piece, by the bag or by the cruise. Piece prices are highest, "unlimited" laundry (for the whole cruise) is the least expensive if you have lots of things that need to be washed.

The bag of laundry cost is 25.00 per bag. They did not offer an unlimited whole cruise option last week on my cruise. Ironing ran about 6.50 for a pair of pants.

Wow! $25 a bag - it was $18 on the Noordam in May. We must be stuffing too much in those bags!!

Thanks so much for the info. Does it comes back folded? Is it returned the next day?

I just returned from the Noordam & did the bag once. Took 48 hours (as is stated on the laundry sheet), and all came back folded or hung, depending on what it was.

Very nicely done, no complaints. And particularly necessary for a 10-day cruise!

i just read on anothe thread it was $12 just a few months ago: oh well, even $25 isn't bad. We have done this on NCL many times, everything comes back looking great. NMnita

On the Volendam 2 years ago, unlimited was $45 for a 10-day cruise. Last month, on the Prinsendam, it was $95 for a 16-day cruise. Either way, it's a great bargain.

It isn't usually advertised, though - you need to go to the front desk and ask for it.

When you send out the laundry... does it ALL come back?
Do you have to "ID tag" everything......

(Sorry... the last time I "traveled" my luggage was a big O.D. green duffel :( )

WE've never had a problem with anything 'going missing'. The laundry tags everything as they receive it (and I'm still finding the little tags "ironed on" to my underwear!)

Yes, the laundry irons in numbered/lettered tags. One load I sent came back missing one pair of boxers. I reported it, and three days later they showed up! Nothing ever permanently lost, in our experience.

If you get your laundry to your steward by 9am you'll get it back the next day, at least on S and R class ships. The earlier you get it in the better. If we're not ready to leave the room we hang the bag on the outside of the door. Keep a copy of the list you fill out to compare when you get it back.
