Ah, Palermo! We were there on Christmas Day back in 2000. Here's some pictures of:
The Cappella Palatina (http://vquill.com/gallery/palermopalatina.html)
The Cathedral (http://vquill.com/gallery/palermocathedral.html)
And the Cathedral (http://vquill.com/gallery/monrealcathedral.html) and Cloister (http://vquill.com/gallery/monrealcloister.html) in Monreal which is just outside of Polermo. (I think it's the suburb where the Godfather lives. At least, all of the "wiseguys" stationed around the plaza made me think so!)

We did our own thing in Palermo. We rode the hop-on/hop-off bus around town, then took a city bus (same ticket) up to the top of Monte Pellegrino for stunning views of the city. We didn't go to Valletta on this cruise.
In LaGoulette, Tunisia, we took the ship's tour of the ruins of Carthage and Sidi Bou Said. Interesting enough, but no big deal. There's really not much else there, IMO. Sidi Bou Said was really just a huge flea market. A shopper's delight, for sure ... but not really our thing. What WAS wonderful was the stop made at the American Cemetery of North Africa. Over 2800 are buried there who served in that region during WW2.
