I will be in Barbados in November and was looking at going on the Turtle Encounter excursion. Can anyone tell me if you would reccommend this or not? Would it be appropriate for kids? (they are 6) Also, it says it goes to the beach afterwards ... does anyone know what beach it goes to?
Any info would be appreciated!*!
Thanks!:)

bermuda-bound: We have done this excursion and would highly recommend it! We sailed on the El Tigre with Captain Nick and had a marvelous time. We saw tons of turtles and after the snorkle with them we were taken to Paradise Beach where there were water toys and lots of things to do. It is one of our favorite memories. I woud perhaps hesitate to bring children that young as the currents are strong. But if they are good swimmers or not going to snorkle it should be fine.
ps Be certain to bring an underwater camera!

I would highly recommend this excurision! We did this excursion last November and it was one of the best and most exciting excursions DH and I have taken by far. Also, make sure you bring an underwater camera with you as there are lots of turtle and fish. The beach was beautiful and somewhat private. Lots of things to do for the kids. The boat has snorkel vests but you may want to call to confirm the age requirements.

I did this in March, and it was a lot of fun.The turtles are "living the life",ahah. No concerns, that they are being harmed by the humans.I agree, that there was a currnet, and do not know if 6yo. would be safe in the water.
The beach is not wide, fronts on the resort ,where Tiger Woods, got married.Though you could see little of it from beach. There were banana boat ,and other water rides.I thought that the young men, that crewed it were polite and attentive to people having fun, and being safe. Not always the case.Enjoy

Thanks for all the info ... it really helps! A few more questions ... can anyone tell me how long you actually spend with the turtles and how long you spend at the beach?;)

Time seems to go into its own warp when you are having a fantastic time; it seems to me we spent about an hour with the turtles and at least an hour to one and a half on the beach.
I wish I was swimming with them right now!

Wow, I hear things like this and I want to go back to Barbados. It is probably our favorite island with so much to do and see. We have been there on 3 cruises and one land trip; still haven't seen or done all there is. NMnita

How far is the beach from the ship? Since the tour is only 3 hrs, I was wondering if there is any way to stay on at the beach for the rest of the day. Does anyone know if this would be possible? Thanks!

As I recall it's about 2 miles maybe 3, we could see it from the ship.
A nice walk, if your up to it.
It's flat anyway
If you don't get back on the boat what can he do?
just let him know so he don't start looking for you.
