LOL that is to funny. I hope my birds behave while we are gone. Thwy will be boarding at the pet store. They will eat or drink anything so they better behave. One night my hubby gave one of the birds Mountain Dew and that crazy bird fell to the bottom of the cage and acted like it was drunk or something. Vet said it got a sugar rush.LOL No more Dew for the birds.

My cat used to let me know she was upset by eating all my plants (which I call having her saladbar) then when I would come home she would walk up to me - give me a huge hiss and then go to the middle of the room and turn her back to me and just sit there. The next day she would sit in my luggage and not move. They are just like children.

My cats won't leave us alone after we've been gone awhile. We've been home from a Spring Break ski trip for a week and a half and they are just now starting to leave us alone. What really bugs me is the one cat will get on my bed and sniff my face in the middle of the night. Sometimes it scares the crap out of me. I push her down and she just comes right back. It drives me up a wall but I still love them. Our old dog (now deceased) used to crap on the floor even though we would have my husbands brother come and stay at the house when we were gone. After she started that, we had to put her in a kennel when we traveled.

Used to have a very loving cat that would get very pissed when we left him alone. If he determined that we had been gone too long, he would go through the house and poop in every sink drain. Then somehow pack it down until it was hard to notice but the drain would be completely stopped up. Once we left the basement door open and he even plugged the utility sink in the basement.

My two cats are kenneled while we are away. The day before we leave is the BIG ROUND UP. My new job title is CAT HERDER until I get them in the carrier. Then off to the kennel. When we get back from our trip we pick the cats up the next day-hmmmmmmmm something is wrong with this picture. My DH and I are gone for say 4 nights and the cats are gone for 6...hmmm

I'm a mess when I leave my 2 kitties. Last time (only 1 at the time), Samper stayed at Granpa's house. I made sure that he (Samper) emailed me every single day so I knew he didn't escape.

This time, both are staying home and having a neighbor check in on them a few times a day. They will both email me daily so I know that they aren't up to wacky antics like a house party.

But if being gone for work and coming home is any indication of the reception I'll get when I get back from my cruise, I can expect "starving" (hardly! they just want the wet food) kitties, who are very vocal, who eat and then snuggle up together on the bed, relieved that Mommy does, in FACT, always come home!

My Kitty is so spoiled. A friend of DH laughed when he found out that Notail had an electric litter box. SUE SUE: I have a cheap frame with a photo of my 2 kitties snuggling on the bed together (with copies of the pic at home, of course)... I take the cheap (NO GLASS) framed pic of them on the cruise for my nightstand, so they aren't so far away. This might help your 'separation anxiety'.

MY anxiety comes with potential escape... neither has claws to make it out in the big bad world against 'vermine' (like strays, doggies, squirrels, etc.)... I'm terrified they will be hurt in a 'skirmish'.

I also email them to see what they're up to. 5 minutes on line per day relieves me TREMENDOUSLY!!! My kitties tell me ALL about their "BUSY" days via email. ("Hi Mommy, we slept, ate, and slept again, but in between, we had a wild house party with the neighborhood strays! We hope you don't mind that the liquor cabinet is empty... but do the math! We're OLD ENOUGH to have a little "Kitty Cocktail" even though we're only 3 in people years!")

What a great thread!! I love the stories, sooo cute!
My cat gives me such cattitude when I get back from a trip. I walk in the door and I get that whiny meow that says "where the heck have you been???" and "How dare you" You gotta love her though. I learned a new trick to get her into the carrier before dropping her off with family. Every time I used to get the carrier out she'd dissapear, but now I have my husband grab her first then I go get the cage.
