Our family (10 + 3 family friends) had thought of bringing walkie talkies to stay in touch wth everyone while at Nassau & Castaway Cay, but someone had metioned that everyone else does the same thing and therefore you can't really use them efficiently because the frequencies jam. Any thoughts?

Not a problem.
On the FRS (free Family Radio System) radios, there are only 14 channels available but each channel has 38 privacy subcodes to make up 546 usable channels . If one is in use, go to another. I've used them a lot at places like Disneyland, zoos, festivals and camping and only a few times had someone else on our primary channel. We just switch to the pre-arranged secondary and we're good.
Don't however count on the radios to travel a significant distance. If you're out of visible range, you're out of radio range. Their advertised range is two miles but a mile is more like it.

We've always used walkie-talkies on our cruises and they are a godsend. We can get 6 people that are in different places on the ship back to the rooms in no time. But Host Mick is right, the distance coverage is never what they claim.
