since we will now be in livorno/pisa/florence on assumption day does anyone know if the museums, stores, or restaurants will even be open? if everything is going to be closed, is there anything else to see/do?:)

I can't speak specifically for Florence. But a few years ago, our cruise had us in Rome for the Feast of the Assumption. We had hired Aldo (Driver in Rome) for the day. All the sights on our list were open w/ the exception of the Vatican Museum (which was disappointing, of course). The one GOOD thing about sightseeing on this day, is the lack of traffic (at least in Rome). It was almost like having the city to ourselves. We were able to literally stop in the street to take photos of minor attractions. And since we whizzed from site to site; we were able to see a lot more sites than we thought there would be time for. Hopefully, someone else can specifically address the subject of Florence.

I had the same switch of ports for the same reason on my Insignia cruise last August and everything in Livorno/Florence was open and operating normally.
