We're going on the Legend next Monday - My husband would like to use his laptop to check his email at work. He has to use his computer, as he cannot access his email from an unsecure computer. He cannot install wireless software on his computer due to security issues at work. Can you just plug your laptop in at the internet cafe? Or do you need a wireless card?

I believe you need a wireless card, however they do rent those out so you wouldn't have to purchase one just for the trip.

I thought you had to use the computers on the ship. I've never noticed any wireless AP's anywhere.

Thats the problem, we can't use a wireless card. It has to be a direct connection. Anyone do this?

There are no open ports in the internet cafe area. All the machines are hard-wired internet terminals, not even "computers' as we know them.

Because your question is beyone the scope of the experiences of most of the members here, I'd recommend calling carnival directly.
Don't rule out shore access, even if it simply means going to a local hotel and talking the manager into letting you use his office ethernet cable.
