My contact at HAL sent me this map of the upper Rotterdam dining room on the Volendam, for those of you who might want to look at it. Hope it helps!

Good of you to post that. I want to add that you can request a table by number through Ship Services. They will not guarantee you will get it, but I have been very lucky getting one when I asked.

It looks like there are table numbers in the Kings Room. Are they using those tables for regular dinner seatings?

On the Volendam the King's Room is not used for dinner - only when the captain has privatedinner parties on the last formal night.
It is used for suite passengers for breakfast in the mornings.

Thanks for the floor plan -- does anyone have a similar link to the main dining room floor plan?
We have requested late seating table for two on 9/20/06 Alaska cruise through our TA. Do you think we will be assigned a 2-seater once on board (ie, how popular are table for 2s on Alaska cruise). Thanks!

Contact Ship Services on the HAL website and ask for a Dining Room plan.
I think there is a good chance you will get your table for 2....it just is never guaranteed you will get it.

We'll be sailing the Volendam in less than a month. Can anyone give me their expert opinion and suggest a perfect table for 4?

We love table 23 and have been seated there on our last 2 cruises to Alaska.

We have table 77. It is by the rail so it seems like a nice table to be able to see what is going on downstairs.
We had a similar table on Zuiderdam our last two trips. We really enjoyed it there. Tables for 2 seem to get out a little quicker than some of the larger tables. Unless of course you have 8 lobster tails! :-)
I am sure whatever you pick will be more than nice. It mostly depends on the server and his assistant, doesn't it?
