We are cruising on the Ecstasy next month. Should we pre-purchase drink coupons or just buy drinks on the ship? Will we save money by purchasing the drink coupons?

You won't really save any money to speak of , the value I see in drink coupons is for budgeting your expenses onboard (Like "Ok I can use 20 coupons each day and THAT'S IT!!) or giving as thoughtful gifts to friends who are sailing.

As long as you use the coupons on frozen drinks (or drinks in that price range) you save just about the amount of the tax and gratuity. Since we always tip when they bring our drinks, we don't really save. But we ordered drink coupons anyway...

I would be worried if for some reason I did not use them my money would be wasted?? We buy as we go along. With kids that would be an entirely different ballgame.

First, yes if you don't use them you lose them. These are bar tickets so kids can't use them anyway.

I agree with Chris, look at it as a budget tool not a money saving tool.
