View Full Version : HAL Revises Departure Times

Just found this on HAL's website.
They've delayed the departures of select sailings this weekend in response to the problems with air travel at the moment, to allow more passengers travelling internationally to try to reach the ships. Mostly Europe sailings, though some Alaska sailings from Vancouver are also affected.

That's wonderful of HAL to be on top of this and thinking about the passengers who might be delayed...and I'll bet there are quite a few.

All the more reason to arrive at the port city at least a day ahead. It's so much less stress that way, IMO. We enjoy getting there and having a relaxing evening before we set sail.

We fly in two days ahead of time...hubby grumbles about this, but I'd rather do this than miss the ship...or be rushed. When your destination is leaving, you really need to give yourself extra time in case something should arise.

I am impressed with the response from Holland America....And amidst the positive and some negative comments on this board that cover a variety of issues that HAL has direct control over it is refreshing to see an official positive, beneficial response showing HAL cares about its customers...
just my 2 cents. . .

I think HAL's response has been excellent! If you research what the other lines have done, NONE have taken such a pro-active step in ensuring their passengers are able to make their cruises. Yet another reason HAL is head and shoulders above the rest!
p.s. a Carnival Cruise consultant just called me (don't know how they got my number) and when I told them I was already booked with HAL she went on to say, and I quote, "Oh, that's good. You know we own that company?" I said, "Yes." She then went on to say, "We usually gear those cruises for the 65 and over age group. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of that." That's when I mentioned we were on the Noordam and were happy with our reservations. That's when she hung up :D

We always go at least 1 day early too Jim...just to relax, enjoly local scene and to be sure we are not stresseed out with anything..imagine yesterday in the airports if that was the day of sailing....
If I am gonna spend for a cruise, whats one nights lodging for peace of mind
