I don't remember exactly how we arranged our trip to airport for our last cruise, but we used a shuttle that took us from Miami to FLL.
This time, we'd like to just grab a cab once we get back in FLL and scoot over to the airport. Will there be cabs waiting? Or should we arrange to use a shuttle or some sort?

Plenty of cabs and if you can manage to carry off your own luggage you might even beat the lines.

depends what week you go - last Feb (school vacation week) - there were a zillion people waiting for cabs - it took well over an hour for us to get one - next time we are taking the cruies's bus back to the airport.

Thanks for the responses.
We are going at the beginning of Feb., and I hadn't even thought about school being out (that time of year). Hmmm...I guess I'll have to give this some thought...
Thanks! :)

You can wait forever for the cruise's bus, too. They won't leave until they are full, then your airline will be the third stop. I'm taking cabs this December. Cabs are even cheaper, especially with a family of four.

The later you leave the ship, the more cabs will be easily available as they will be dropping off early arrivals for the next cruise - you can practically walk out of the terminal straight into a waiting car!

The only time we had trouble getting a cab was when we disembarked on December 21, 2003. There were 15 cruise ships that day, which was a record at the time. Fortunately for us, we stayed over one night in Fort Lauderdale and did not have to contend with the crowds in the airport. It was one of the busiest days for it as well.

We have a 1:30 flight, and I think because of our suite, we may be able to get off early, or with a flight this late...we may not rush.
I do believe we will take a cab. I just wanted to make sure there would be cabs waiting for passengers. I do remember that on the cruise shuttle, the one we were in line for was full by the time we got to the door. We had to wait for another, and then wait for it to fill up. So a cab it is...
I tried to talk hubby into staying over the night in FLL, but he wants to get home. At least I was able to get him to fly into the port two days prior to our cruise.
Thank you for all the advice! :)
