View Full Version : Afternoon Tea

Just wanted to suggest that if you are at sea, there is an afternoon tea that is just wonderful. I stumbled upon it after the galley tour (very informative and interesting) and really enjoyed it - selections of tea, yummy cakes and pastries, finger sandwiches....it's in the Capers, but I didn't catch it - was so glad I stumbled upon it - and had my book with me - enjoyed my "alone time" before I met up with my DH and DS. If you enjoy tea, don't miss this!!

Oh I agree, Afternoon Tea is a great break in the day and one of our favorite events.

I didn't even catch it until DD, then 13, told us about it and how her and her friends had been enjoying it on the Victory.

It's a real cruise kinda thing to do

We loved afternoon tea on Jubilee, Inspiration and Fantasy. It's a very special time where you can enjoy some "high society" activity. Bruce and I highly recommend it. Cathy

Is there a dress code for the afternoon tea?

TO ALL POSTERS:
I LIKE YOUR STYLE!!!
Everywhere we have lived, I find a place (usually in downtown) to "take tea". It's one of my favorite things to do! I had already noticed someone talking about it on these boards, and was SO happy to hear about it on the ships.
"TEA-TIME" GIRL
I don't think there's a dress code. Can anyone correct me if I'm wrong?

There is not a dress code for tea - I was in shorts and was welcomed with open arms! There was also very nice music (live) while I enjoyed my tea! Ahhhhh....my DH brought me tea this morning - not quite the same in a big mug with no cream puffs....

Tea time is on my list of "must do's" this time on the Paradise. Other items on the list are....go down the slide at least once and order from room service. These were all things I wished I had done on my first cruise! Now that the Paradise is becoming a smoking ship this may be our last cruise so I gotta go for it now!!! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I just wanted to say don't worry if you don't have anyone to go with to tea. I went alone both times on the Inspiration and met wonderful people. There were a lot of ladies who were alone so I didn't feel so bad. Kim

One last question.

Do you have to sign up in advance for the Afternoon Tea or is it first come first served? If you do have to sign up, where do you do so?

I think it's terrific that you want to take your grandson to tea. My sons were brought up on tea, the whole experience, not just the beverage. May I suggest several practice runs before the cruise so that you may teach him proper behavior, especially if his idea of eating out is McDonalds? You would be doing yourself and the other adults taking tea a big favor by instilling in him the importance of proper behavior expected of him at tea. Practicing with Granny at home a few times will help him build a big expectation for what I am certain will be a memorable experience for you both.

My wife took my 5 year old daughter to tea on the Pride. They got dressed up for it and everything, and my daughter loved it. She didn't like the tea drink itself so much but enjoyed the experience.

You just go to tea- no need to sign up and its not crowded enough to be first come first serve. It gave my family a half hour of together time outside of dinner. Was a great experience.
