If we bring a power strip to use in our cabin, should it be a 3-prong or 2-prong cord?
thanks,

Good question. I am planning to take one with a 6' cord and an adapter in case the plugs weren't grounded. I really doubt that they wouldn't be a grounded plug and possibly may even be the Ground Fault Indicator style.

On the Legend thy had 3 prong plugs and I'm assuming that they have 3 prong on the Miracle.
I would think the best thing to do is to buy a 3 prong to 2 prong ground lift/adaptor. This way you won't have to carry 2 powerstips.

Last year on the Pride I took a 3 prong and it worked just fine, got it at Walmart for $2.96
It gave me 6 more outlets even though I didn't use that many it came in handy! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you really don't need the whole strip and want to save room packing, we took one of the small adapters that plug into one outlet and it gives you three outlets. Plus you still have the other outlet. You get a total of 4 outlets, with a 3 inch adapter instead of a foot long power strip. I hope this makes sense.

Ours is 3 prong. I unplug the TV and plug it in there then plug the TV into it as well as numerous other things. In that location it is out of the way

I have packed a 3 prong extension cord that has "3 outlets" at the end of it. It was smaller than the power strip.
Did anyone ever find out if you can use a night light in the bathroom??

Last cruise, I took a 3"x2" adaptor that just plugs into the socket. You can plug in three appliances. Tiny little thing - WalMart .97 cents! Worked great. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif No cords or power strip to deal with.

I took a night light on the Spirit. You could not plug it in, in the bathroom. Only plug in there was that gigantic shaver plug thingy. We just plugged the night light in the top outlet and the adapter in the bottom one giving us 3 more outlets, on the front of desk.
Yes, Cotton, great minds think alike! That was what I was trying to decribe. We've used them at home for years. Was hoping I wasn't dating myself by using the antique! But I guess if they are still available I'm in the clear. Whew.

Some things should not be run or plugged into an extension cord..the adapter is a safer idea...if you have a digital camera you definitely shouldn't be plugging it into an extension cord or a hair dryer for that matter..you might burn down the ship..unless you bought a very heavy duty one that would be capable of carrying that many amps..and in that case the cord would be thicker and heavier than the light power strip...glad i am not sailing on your cruise, lol..you are likely to start a fire and have to use those darn uncomforatable life preservers, lol

I'm a little confused...
From what I have read, there is one outlet in the cabin, and I assume one in the bathroom. Is this correct?
For the outlet in the cabin, is it just one "plug", or is it a two "plug" thing like the typical kind you have in your house?
In the bathroom, what's the gigantic shaver-outlet referred to above? Does that mean you can't plug anything else in there except a shaver?
And I've always read that it's recommended to bring a power strip, but I honestly can't think why we'd need it.... the only electric things we will have are the hair dryer and electric shaver.... am I missing something?
Thanks for setting me straight. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

yes, it is only one single plug and that is it..so if you need to plug two things in at once you are out of luck...for instance, recharge digital camera, and or video camera, while you are drying your hair, lol..or leaving on a night light so you don't walk into the wall in the pitch black night and have a camera recharging,..those are some examples of why you'd need an outlet..or a curling iron and or hair dryer..etc
In the bathroom, what's the gigantic shaver-outlet referred to above? Does that mean you can't plug anything else in there except a shaver?
yes, the only thing you can put into this outlet it a shaver plug ..it's not a normal electric outlet..
And I've always read that it's recommended to bring a power strip, but I honestly can't think why we'd need it.... the only electric things we will have are the hair dryer and electric shaver.... am I missing something?
we do have a video camera and a digital camera and we for sure always bring a power strip....and we have sailed on 10cruises

Actually, there is also the outlet that the TV is plugged into also. That makes 2 in the cabin and one in bathroom. But the one in the bathroom is only for a shaver.
For the outlet in the cabin, is it just one "plug", or is it a two "plug" thing like the typical kind you have in your house?
Typical two plug like in your house. Hair dryer is in the drawer at the desk.
In the bathroom, what's the gigantic shaver-outlet referred to above? Does that mean you can't plug anything else in there except a shaver?
Thats correct, as far as I know. Unless someone knows of a shaver adapter? And, I don't even think DH shavers plug would fit in the outlet. Its looks like a clothes dryer plug in!
And I've always read that it's recommended to bring a power strip, but I honestly can't think why we'd need it.... the only electric things we will have are the hair dryer and electric shaver.... am I missing something?
Thats why I don't take a power strip. However, we do take a night light. DH is almost blind without his glasses and it gets quite dark even in the oceanview rooms. We also take a small clock. Don't know why we need to know what time it is? Don't want to miss a meal I guess! LOL. So that takes up the 2 plugs. If you need to use the hair dryer, curling iron etc, you would need to unplug one of them. Not a big deal, just easier to use the little adapter thingy. Hope that clears it up?

It's an industrial power cord that has polarized plugs and is plenty safe. More so than alot of the cheap power strips I have seen that spark when you plug something in.
And it actually doesn't weigh more than a good quality power strip, it's just not a rigid.
