View Full Version : Question about being dropped off at Port Canaveral

Most of the posts I read here about check in time at Port Canaveral are from people that sound like they drive there themselves because they usually refer to "dropped the luggage off, parked the car and waited there for a while & on the ship by 12:30" or something like that.

We will actually be shuttled to the Pier. What time can people be dropped off and will we just have to stand outside along with our luggage?

Just asking because I will have my children along and I want to be prepared to entertain them sitting on luggage if I need to. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The gates at the port don't open until 11:30. If your being shuttled from a hotel(like we were), they won't leave the hotel till just before then. We got through embarkation very quickly and had really no waiting time. Having said this, I also know the wisdom of always being prepared when it comes to children... Have some ideas ready just incase!!

I saw this thread and wanted to ask a question about early arrival at the port.

I am a first time cruiser sailing the Glory with my husband in May. We are being driven to the port by a relative with whom we will be visiting just before our cruise. Because of schedules in the family, we will have to arrive at the port around 9:30-10:00a.m.. Since we will not be allowed to board until 11:30a.m., will we have to sit on the curb with our luggage until then? I thought there would be a place to wait until boarding time, like a terminal, but since I am not at all familiar with the ports and procedures, I don't know what to expect. Please advise.

I'm thinking that we arrived around 10:30 a.m., and, yes, we did park, but then we took our luggage and went inside the terminal and checked in. From there we sat a very long time in the terminal until we were able to board around 12:15. So bring a book or something to do until then. Cathy

Thank you, Cathy.

I'm glad to know we can wait in the terminal. I could just see us sitting atop our luggage in the midmorning sun having a meltdown while we waited on the curb. I don't mind the wait. I just didn't want to have to do it on the sidewalk. We are being dropped off by a relative who has to be elsewhere at 10 a.m. that same day so they will probably just drop us off at the curb around 9 a.m.. Hopefully, we can go ahead and give our luggage to the porter and head on into the terminal. I will probably be too excited to read a book but I will have one with me and magazines too. I'm taking magazines to give to our room steward, etc. as part of a "happy" package I have for them.

I appreciate your help with my question.
