OK, not exactly sure what is going on with HAL but.... as many of you know I picked up my Documents today. Yes, I am dancing some and may even crack open a bottle of champagne:D but.... My TA and I are going over the documents when I catch a big mistake. It states we are Confirmed Main Lower for dining. Well, first off we always book Early Lower. So my TA pulls out the original confirmation paperwork she got from HAL last August 2005 and sure enough it stated Dining Early Lower. We tried to call HAL but they close at 3:30 on Saturdays and at this time it was 3:40. My TA thinks that we should have no problems especially since we are S Suite Passengers. I certainly hope we can get it changed I don't want to eat that late or be eating in the Lido every night:(
Also about the Suite Luncheons we stated to look thru the new 2007 HAL books and we could not find anything about stating that was an amenitie for S Suite and PH passengers but it was listed in the 2006 brochures. Then she looked it up on line and sure enough it stated for cruises longer than 7 days a Suite Luncheon is provided. Since it is on the website I am guess it could go away any day.

I hope you get this straightened out.
It sounds like since our cruise is seven days, we're out of luck on the Suite Luncheon.

Lisa,
I've had some weird assignments in my dining time in the past, too. More than once I've gotten my docs and they say "Confirmed Early Lower" and I NEVER request Early. When my TA has checked, they find it's never been a problem to get it fixed. I don't know if you'll have trouble or not ... what with your desire being to go the other direction ... but I would hope not. Not if you originally had Early Lower confirmed.

I'm sure it can be worked out. It's just too bad they crossed their lines somewhere in the process. It's obvious they have had lots of problems with their database upgrade. (The loss of special occasion data, for example.)

Hopefully you will get everything straightened out on Monday.

I didn't think to check HAL's web site.
If it is listed there, then it sounds like HAL is stopping the suite luncheons/buffets on 7 day cruises very soon.
Thanks for that update.

Whats Wrong With The Lido?

There is nothing wrong with the Lido, especially for lunch or breakfast. We just like the formality of the dining room a lot better. We also like to have our champagne at dinner and get to know our Wine Steward. To be honest we have never had dinner in the Lido and we may like it as well but I know that some of it is buffet style and since we frequent buffets here in Las Vegas, on a cruise I like to be served dinner and get to know the servers.:)

On Veendam next week again!:)
We kept hearing (on our 14 day So. Car. cruise last Dec.) that dinner in the Lido now had tablecloths, candles and wine. We finally tried it on one of our last nights and we were AMAZED.
They had all the same things found in the Main D.R. but you could "mix and match" the entree plates. In other words, if you wanted the rice from one plate, the veggies from another both with a different protein, they dished it up for you right then.
It was very nice..........relaxing.........just a shorter time that it's open. It's a great option if you're late back from shore, etc.
I don't know if they're doing that on all the HAL ships, but I'm hoping it's still available when I board her next Sunday.;)

I am like Lisa, when we are on a cruise we like to sit down have the crew wait on us!! (We don't do buffets here - very few places even offer them.)

There have been some ships and some itineraries (and I have reported that here) that the entire dining in the Lido has been all buffet with no table cloths!!

I just got off the phone with my TA and she is waiting for a fax confirmation. She says that they do show us having Confirmed Early Lower and some how it was a typed in wrong for the Documents:confused: She said she will give us the new faxed confirmation from them.
I do feel much better know, I think there may be problems because on our Roll Call for this cruise others that are starting to get their Docs and have incorrect information as well for dining.

Last spring,on the Zuiderdam, we had confirmed 8pm, but a huge group booked, some wellness gurus, and lo and behold, we had early early or late late to pick from. Ah well, late late was kind of fun, but certainly not our number one choice!
