We are on the Rotterdam - sailing October 22nd. We have a BB guarantee. When will we find out our cabin number?

Probably anywhere by the end of September up to a few days before sailing.

Sometimes you don't find out till you show up at the pier.

Agree, it's usually sometime between 7-10 days before sailing, but.... It can be as far out as 3-4 weeks, or as short as check-in. (That last one is very unusual, though.)

You can check online at HAL's website (when it's functioning!!!) Click on 'for booked guests' and go to your immigration form. It will generally show 000 until your cabin is assigned. But even then, it's possible that it could be switched upon checkin at the pier.

Conventional wisdom is that the longer it takes to get a cabin number assigned, the better your chance of getting an upgrade.
Who knows?????
