Enbarkation question ?

Hello All,
DW and I are scheduled to sail aboard the Noordam in January out of NYC... My question is: What is the dress code for the 1st evening aboard ship, especially for the dining room?
As a regular beneficiary of "Murphy's Law" - I am figuring it will be a cold, wet windy day.... that will require us to travel in less than our “Sunday best”….
Sooooooooo.... any advice? Thanks in advance for the information! :)

the first evening has always been casual for us at dinner. HAL does not expect people to really dress up as they are still in the process of delivering all of the luggage to the cabins.
On the westerdam this past jan, we saw skirts, polo shirts, khaki shorts and slacks. even some jeans and it was ok.
don't worry about it... worst case, take an outfit on your carry on that you can change into for dinner to "freshen up" :)

First night on a ship anywhere is always casual as some people will still be unpacking and may not have a chance to get all dressed up.
