Seems fitting to start the journey on a special day, and the 17th is a very special day for us... our 4th anniversary. Somehow, I don't think our anniversary dinner on Lufthansa will be a fine dining experience, though.

No, your anniversary dinner won't be a superb experience ... but boarding the Noordam will make up for it, IMO. She's really a fine ship. I think HAL learned from the other Vistas and really got things right with this vessel.

Grumpy1, I guess in the time that my DW and I have known you and Slinkie, I never knew your anniversary date; happy 4th anniversary. Today being the 15th makes 37 years my DW has kept me around. Have a wonderful trip.

Hope you do some of your usual onboard reporting as we have a friend on this cruise - not her first trip to Europe but the Noordam will be her first cruise! Wilklibill Hope you & your beleved have a very Happy Anniversary...We just celebrated our 30th on July 31 & my Birthday is Aug. 19.. Since I claim not to need any more jewelry, clothes or trinkets my DH asked me what to do..Of course I suggested another cruise in Nov.to take care of both!:D He forgot our Amazon Cruise on the "Prinsendam" was for our 30th Anniversary, but I certainly will not remind him of that..;) Cruising we shall go!

Thanks again, my friends for the good wishes. They are very much appreciated.

Grumpy's do-it-yourself limo service... aka Hertz rentacar... is in the driveway and some of the packing is done. With a few discount coupons, I was able to rent a fullsize vehicle (if you consider a Ford Taurus fullsize) for about $50 plus gas for the trip to the Miami airport. It sure beats the $80pp or more that I was quoted for any other way of getting there.

I think we've got everything figured out on Lufthansa's luggage allowance and what's allowed for carryon. We're allowed 2pcs checked luggage each, at 50lb each piece. They throw in a little curve, though. One of the pieces can be a 28" suitcase, but if it is, the second can only be a 20" to stay within their combined dimensions. I've got my 28" packed full and it weighs in at 45lb. The small one is only half full and I've got everything packed. Not enough room for the Weber Grill, but I could pack a blender, my Popeil Pocket Fisherman, lots of door decorations....:D ... I'll find something to fill the space. Otherwise Slinkie will claim the extra room.:p

I know you're already on your way and thankfully I remembered to wish you a Bon Voyage by email, but wanted to post here since I'm hopeful you'll check the thread along your path.

I'm especially looking forward to hearing all about this cruise and your very interesting travelling companions. It should be an amazing trip.
