Your choice of Dining Room the one in the middle of ship or back of ship and why??

Hi I am curious to know what dining room and location on the ship is your choice??? I also would like to know if anyone has been on Glory which dining room they liked the best...the Golden or the Platinum?? I remember on the Conquest we had dining room at the rear and it got a Lil' bit rumbly back there when leaving out of ports at dinner time. Just trying to make mind up which one to choose! Thanks for your input and help,

We are sailing the Conquest 4/25 and I put in a request with my TA for a seat next to a window in the dining room. What are the odds this will happen? Is there a way for them to request that when booking, or was he just telling me what I wanted to hear?

You Can choose ..Put request in and everytime ours has been fullfilled. Or you can make sure your cabin is in right part of ship as well heard that comes into play..but then that might have just been some crazy rumor. You can also go see head man at dinging room as well to make sure you have the precise(sp?) table you want and location. I myself just want to make sure I get in the right dining room as in middle or rear?? I have a whole bunch of folks going and we are all linked by booking numbers I know carnival will get us all together they always have..I wouldn't mind a table by the window where you can look out at the ocean but to some that might make them feel queasy and at dinner time thats the wrong time to be near the window..hehehe!!
Any more help on this or input...help...much appreciated and needed on deciding..thanks

I think the only big diffence is the time. One has the earlier time and one the later.

For instance one has 5:45 and the other 6:15.

I am hoping to get the 6:15 one to be a little later, if not I will go and ask to be change. My TA asked to request that time, but they said you can't, only early or late seating

Whats the point of having a table at the window? At dinner dont they pull those curtains? Every ship I been on the curtains were closed at dinner. Also- its also dark out there.

When we were on the Victory in Sept we were in the dining room in the back of the ship. Our table was right by the back windows, in the area where the windows slant out and there are no curtains because the whole slant from top to bottom is windows. Between being in the back of the ship and Isabelle it was way too much movement for us, especially since we could see everything going up and down, waves & all!!!!

Seriously, though, I believe the center dining room is for the 'forward' cabins, and the aft dining room is for the 'aft or rear' cabins.

If you can "request" either early or late dining, but Carnival won't "guarantee" you will get your choice, I don't see how you can choose your dining room. Obviously you can try to change your assigned dining room/time/table once on the ship, but you will only get what you want if it's available. We always ask for late and have been assigned late all but twice. Once we were able to change (there were only four of us that time), but the other time we couldn't -- unless we wanted to split up our group of 11. We kept the early time so we could all sit together. Last year on the Explorer it was light out when dinner started (early seating) so you could see real well. Later when it got dark (as well as when it was light) you could often see other ships out the windows. One night we saw the Navigator sailing side by side with us out the window at dinner. It was very cool to see all lit up right next to us. There were no curtains on that ship's windows.

Those with forward cabins are typically assigned to the dining room mid-ship; those in aft cabins usually have the aft dining room.

We also had early seating and were at a table for 10 by a window. We loved looking out during dinner (about the first half of it was light enough to enjoy the site). We were a family of 5 seated with another family of 5 so we made sure to trade each evening so we could all have a chance to enjoy the view.

Is the dining room assignment always based on where your cabin is? Does the seating time have any bearing on your assigned dining room (we selected second main seating, i.e., dinner at 6:15pm)? I seem to recall a posting in which someone complained about being assigned to a dining room that was inconvenient for her elderly mom.

We're leaving on the August 28th cruise to Canada. I selected cabins toward the aft of the ship because they seemed convenient to the Pacific Dining Room and the Lido buffets, and I wanted to spare my 85-year-old mother a longer walk to the Atlantic Dining Room (although in hindsight, she'll still have to do a bit of walking to the theater and casino).

I didn't see anything about dining room assignments on our confirmations or tickets. So, I assume we won't find out our dining room and table assignments until we board the Victory and meet the maitre 'd. In the event we're assigned to the Atlantic Dining Room, will we be able to switch?

Also, is there any way to indicate in advance of the cruise a general preference for tables? My eight-year-old son has problems in crowded and noisy settings, so we'd prefer a table that might be a bit more secluded and in a more quiet area (if there is such a thing in the dining room).

I thought I was nuts! Me too. I have NEVER been in the middle dining room, and I've also been all over the ship.

On the Destiny class, I would have prefered the back one for the panoramic views.

We were fortuneate to sit in the left rear corned ON the Destiny. We had views that week to die for!

I prefer midship because of less motion in case of rough seas. However, I can not do window seating during my meals. Had to change seating on my Spirit cruise because of that. We had a beautiful window table, but it made me queazy to see the water go by as I am eating. The same applies in the buffwt dining rooms. Can't sit near any windows!

We'd prefer a rear dining room, with a preference for a rear window table.. Just love the view of a port disappearing behind us, and talking about the great day and memories it provided... Bombero

We were assigned the Platinum Dining Room 5:45 seating which was just too early to my liking so we did request 6:15 Golden so we could make the 8:30 shows ... truly I enjoyed the Red-White-Blue chants and great MD we had in the Golden Room and there was very minimal rocking or movement to be felt ... our waiters were superb!! ... we requested a window seating yet they were all tables of 6 usually booked with larger families ... our 4 table was great tho' since we did have a view towards the window area ... center stage had the dancing waiters and waitresses which we could also view so no seat was a bad seat ... over all, dining was a very pleasant experience night after night!!:cool:

Joisey Guy: You will find out whether your dining time/room when you are at the terminal & receive your sail & sign cards (they even have the table number printed on them). Then, at the time listed on your capers (usually 2:00 or 3:00 I think) you can go to the dining room & find out from the Matre'd how many are seated at your table. We just did this a week ago on the Elation. Don't know that they can or will honor a request as to how many people are at your table. We had 5 people on 1st cruise and were seated at a table for 10 with another family of 5. This time we were a family of 6 going and had our own table (booth).

Also, in our 2 Carnival cruises we have had mid-ship to aft room locations and have had dining rooms also located aft, as most others here have stated. Both times this ended up being the earliest dining time (5:45), so I'm thinking maybe the most aft dining room is usually also the earliest of the dining times? Anyone here able to say yea/nay to this thought?
