Calling all recent Westerdam cruisers: How was the service, food, and entertainment on the ship? Anything you can share would be appreciated! ;);)

OPur cruise ended on August 6th and it was wonderful. Most of the staff I go to know are leaving shortly but they were fantastic. The cabin stewards were terrific and the food was very good. The shows were pretty entertaining and there were some late night ones as well. I traveled with 11 family members 2 were in their sixties, 4 children and the rest inbetween. We all enjoyed ourselves. The crew were very warm, cleaning all the time, took care of any problems quickly and were wonderful. It was a memorable and happy trip for all of us.

we were on the W this past Jan and we loved it. It was our favorite cruise because of the wonderful crew and food. The quality of the staff was amazing. Our waiters remember each and everything we wanted every night... the cruise staff was a blast and the captin, peter harris, was around all the time! It was wonderful that he was so visable!

Take a gander at the link in my sig to see photos from our Westerdam cruise if you would like!

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming-- WOW -- What a Ride!!!"

Dear LolaWiz,

This is such a great line. You must be a racer? :-))) Words to live by.

LolaWiz.......I took a gander at your wonderful Westerdam cruise pictures. Thanks for posting the link. Did you have the butler upgrade in your pink cabana on HMC? Is it as wonderful as it looks?

Yep! :o I somehow not only conned my whole party into getting a cabana, but getting the butler as well... and BOY WAS IT WORTH IT!!!!
the night before, the pinnicle grill maitre `d met us in our cabin to discuss the menu! When we arrived at HMC the next day, our wonderful "butler" Ketut met us in our room, carried all our bags and took us ahead of the line to the tenders. when we arrived on the island, there was a bus waiting for us, at our cabana, we had water, soda, any kind of beer... appitzers, any kind of hard drink, a bottle of champagne... oh it was amazing!
Ketut was the best person we have ever met. He was so kind and attentive it was amazing. He walked all the way to get us gaszpacho, then lobster club sandwiches, then filet or jumbo prawns then rum soaked fresh fruit salad, then 5 layer chocolate cake

We all were so greatful... we tried to give him some food for him to eat, but he only accepted some sodas. He always was there when we needed him and he was so pleasant to talk with.

We liked him so much, we gave him a huge tip and asked to have him as our waiter at the Pinnicle grill later on in the cruise!

if you do it, you will love it!

Lolawiz...
Like katmash (who is also on my sailing), I thoroughly enjoyed looking at your pictures from your WESTERDAM cruise. Where did you do the horseback riding excursion? We have booked the PINK CABANA too and are planning to get the Butler Upgrade. After all, we've got two celebrations going for the two couples sharing the cabana! Thanks for giving me a glimpse as to what to dream about with the Butler Upgrade...your depiction sounds so much more indulgent than what is on the HAL website!

Lolawiz, the pics are great. The cabana is huge. Mental note to self, splurge on cabana w/butler upgrade next time cruise is booked.
