I don't believe that the elevators are noisy but the passengers getting on/off the elevators. Some people are not very considerate of their fellow passengers, especially late at night. IMHO http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

It's not the elevators that are a problem, they are not noisy themselves at all.

The potential problem would be loud guests getting on and off. How much of that would be a problem on your particular cruise is just chance.

You canlessen the chances of this being a problem by booking a cabin by an aft or forward elevator rather than a heavily used midship elevator. Actually the forward elevator would generally speaking be your best bet since most of the bar action that produces loud guests tends to be more midship or aft.

Love the rooms by the elevators. We were only a few doors away and there is no problem with noise. I loved the convenience.

We were on the Sensation last week - midship - right next to the elevators. I never heard a noise or disturbance that was a nuisance. I fell in love with the Sensation.

As sold as I am on Carnival, I sure did get excited about the Voyager (RCL) when I saw the special on the Travel Channle last night!

Happy Cruising!

Have been near the elevators on the last couple of cruises, and never heard a thing. However the kids banging on the wall in the next room was another story.

On the Glory last year...our room was right behind the elevators. Never heard anything. I loved having that room.

My DH and I had a room right next to the elevators on our first cruise, and all I remember is hearing the "ding" of the elevator arriving at the floor - all night long. I'm a heavy sleeper - DH is not.

We'll never book near elevators again.

On the Glory it is DING and DING-DING.
But after a couple of days you learn to ignore it.

We were close to the elevators on The Holiday. Never heard a thing and were never bothered. Was convenient to be close to either the stairs or elevator.

A coupla cruises ago, I was in a 1A that backed up to an elevator, and before the cruise, I had worried about it. All in vain, as I never heard the first 'ding' or any sound at all. Only one night did I hear people talking loudly after they got off the elevator, very late one night - I went right back to sleep. It's VERY convenient being that close to an elevator!
