Just curious ... we have a PH3 and I'm wondering how big the veranda is. Is it comfortable enough for two people to sit out and relax at the same time? or does it feel cramped?

Two people can sit out at the same time, but the balconies are not large, by any stretch of the imagination. We always have had a PH and that is one of the (minor) complaints we have about the room. It would be a lot nicer if it were 4 or 5 feet deeper. Obviously, there is nothing Oceania can do about it.
Having said that, we often sit out together on the balcony and read, drink coffee, etc. The PH balcony has greater width because of the width of the room, and this means 2 people can stretch out sideways.

We have always had a PH and we are quite pleased with the balcony. We have 2 lounges with foot stools and a cocktail table. We find it quite comfortable.
Yes, on the Zuiderdam, we had an aft wraparound balcony, and that was nice, but Oceania's PH balconys are great.
You will definitely enjoy the PH category--balcony included. Good choice

 I, too, and on the Insignia, but in a B1 cabin. It is #6090 and is on Deck 6 sandwiched between the 2 Owners Suites on that deck. Anyone out there have comments on the veranda size? I'm hoping, because of its aft location, that 6090 might have an unusually large veranda as compared to the mid-ship B1 cabins. Thanks.

...hey Sweeterpea, what cabin did you guys get? You're obviously on deck eight...we're going to be in cabin #6018, which is a B2 on deck six. We chose a cabin that was as near to the next level up as you can get, ie: the guys next to us door paid more to be a bit closer to midship...
...we've been investigating a pre cruise tour that Oceania offers for the April 28th sailing from Rome to Venice. The package is called the "4-day Tuscany - Under The Tuscan Sun" and includes a 3 night deluxe hotel in Montecatini, 3 breakfasts and an extensive tour program in Florence, Siena and the Chiante region. It also gets you to the ship at Civitavecchia in time for early boarding. We are not familiar at all with anything in Europe, so the tour concept is appealing to us, it will also allow us some time to get used to the time difference...
...hey, we only have 10 more sleeps until we leave for Alaska!! Boy the time flew by!
cheers,

Oh, sorry, thanks everyone for the replies! Didn't want to be in a situation where you have to sit in the room so you can stretch your legs out the door onto the veranda, haha.

they are a wee bit deeper on 6th floor aft due to configuration of the ship

SFgoguy-
Look at Ask4Jay's post of July 29, 2006 for the link to photos of the 6090 veranda. It appears to be considerably deeper than the one I remember from our PH2.

6090 and 6093 are usually the first B staterooms to be taken due to the depth of the verandas..they are really wonderful..it has to do with the configuration of the ship..the deck 7 and deck 8 staterooms in the same location are not the same size.

I'm intrigued by this knowledge! My poor old eyes can't see much of a difference between 6, 7 an 8. Are you talking a scootch or "feet?" It's hard to tell by looking at the floor plans.:)

feet..but really not "that" much..
if you look at a picture of the ship aft, from side you will see that the 6th floor decks aft..are deeper.
It is really larger in OS:D

That's why I was on the 6th floor -- many husbands wander off easily and are selectively hard of hearing. That is why I consider Digby's suggestion about having a female butler on another thread a good idea -- they hear well and can be found easily. I would apply for the job myself, but I don't do anyone's laundry except my own.

Oh yeah, there it is. Thanks, Claudia. Now I see it.

The 6th floor picture looks about the same size as what we had in 7116, if 7th floor is shorter, it's not by much. I'll try to find my picture of the 7116 balcony and post it.

We will take a tape measure with us when we are in Cabin 6090 this November to remove all doubt. Stay tuned.

We were in 6093, the other cabin sandwiched with 6093 between the owners suites. It is about 2 feet deeper than the usual balcony, but no wider. The balcony is not as open as those on the side of the ship, because instead of just a railing, it is solid. You can still see over it while seated and enjoy the ocean views. We liked the cabin so much, we booked it again for next year.

"We liked the cabin so much, we booked it again for next year."
LOL, we did the same thing fro 7116!! We had been debating between an Italy land vacation and the London to Rome cruise, called our TA and the only aft cabin still available was 7116, and she held it for us. It was fate.

Thanks to you all for the info on the verandas for 6090 and 6093 (B1). I thought the space would be a little deeper since these cabins share the same location (but not "footprint") of the OS on Deck 6. I'll take those extra 2' anyday! This is my first Oceania experience and I'm really looking forward to it - thanks, in part, to all the advice from you guys! BTW, does anyone know "Atlantic Cruiser"? He has a cruise report on my same cruise itinerary from February 2006 and I'd like to talk more directly with him about his experience. If you know him and have his e-mail ask him to e-mail me at sfgoguy@sbcglobal.net. Thanks, folks.

:) I really appreciate all your comments on the extra veranda size of Insignia's Stateroom 6090 (and 6093). I thought perhaps we folks in B1 might be able to take advantage of the OS amenities in some small way.

You can crane your neck and look over the railing and see the OS balcony. If the occupants like you they may invite you over.
