My husband and I are going to be sailing w/ my parents and my kids. We really want to have rooms next door to each other. When we booked, we choose our cabin numbers and booked 2 7a's. From what I hear, these are partially obstructed, but from the pics I've seen, looks okay to me. My question is, I am considering changing to a GTY as I would love the possibility, of an upgrade. However, we really want our cabins to stay next to each other. Is that possible? Or does it make us unlikley to get upgraded. I think carnival told me I can't book a 7a guarantee, as that is a class in itself, so I would have to pay more for an 8a GTY, anyway, so not sure if its worth it. Any suggestions?

When booking a guar. cabin, keep in mind the location is solely up to Carnival. As such, the possibility exists that your cabins could be far apart on the ship.

If you book to GTY's, just link your bookings. You could also ask your TA to note that you would like to be kept together if possible. From reading these boards, it seems they usually "upgrade" linked bookings together. You may not be next to each other, but close.

No guarantee that you will be next to each other, but Carnival does try to keep linked bookings together. We almost always book guarantees and we've never been too far apart from the others in our group. Last year we had three inside cabins all side by side, and the one balcony cabin was right across from the last inside.

The only time we traveled with others on a gty we were all on different decks. Said they could only keep us together if we picked specific cabins. Since we were all adults we just set up meeting times and places and it worked out well.

We booked a guarentee with my family and although we were all on the same deck we were all over the deck. One was in the front on one side the other in the middle on the other side with me all the way aft. We had our booking numbers linked together so we all sat together at dinner. If having cabins next to each other is important then stay where you are. If not take the chance. Ships arent that big where you can all meet up at some point.

Sailed on the Spirit 01/04. Chose SPECIFIC rooms, close to each other, but not next door. We were all upgraded from 8H to 11. All 3 rooms were next to each other. Obviously they can't always do that, but I think if they CAN, they WILL. (BTW, the room was FANTASTIC!)
