Any body been in Cozumel on Cinco de Mayo? I will be there this year and wonder if there were any "do not miss" events. I have been to Cozumel several times before but never for this event.

I was in Cozumel last May during Cinco de Mayo and if there was anything special going on I didn't see it and we were all over the island, it just seemed like every other day in Cozumel. Linda

I was with Linda that day.. last year.. May 5th.

Like Linda said.. it was just a normal day... with Cruise ships coming in.. it's all about Carlos and Charlies!!

Every day in Cinco de Mayo there!

I worked in Mexico for 2 Cinco de Mayos... this is an americanized holiday. Where I was, it was actually a dry holiday... no alcohol all day.

I was in Cancun on Cinco De Mayo a few years ago and when I asked why there were no big celebrations I was told that it's not celebrated there, only in the US. I don't know if that is true, but there definitely wasn't anything going on there and Cancun is definitely a party town.

Cinco De Mayo just commemorates the Mexican defeat over the French when they kicked their butts (who hasn't?). http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Mexico's true Independence Day would be September 16. When they eliminated the Spaniards. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I was in Cozumel on May 5 several years ago and it was just another day. However, Carlos and Charlie's is a party every day.
