Hi, I called HAL directly to make my reservation; I booked a guarenteed. do you know if my reservation will show up on the website? When will my cabin be assigned? will it show up on the website?

Thanks for the help in advance.

If they assign your cabin in advance, it will be on the web site. But often it is the day before or even when you get to the pier that you'll find out your cabin. We are sailing in 3 weeks and no assignment yet. I hope you knew how this works before doing guarantee! We always do gty for lowest acceptable cabin and hope we get upgraded. But ok with original, if not. I hope the upgrade fairy visits you!

You should at least have a reservation booking number so you can go on the HAL website to fill out the immigration forms. The web site will recognize your name and booking number and list GUAR under the cabin number. That proves you have a reservation if they took your deposit. If and when a cabin is assigned, the number will show up there. I've done a few guarantee's and typically the cabin was assigned about 3 weeks out from sailing. But as others will comment, sometimes you don't know until you arrive at the dock to board.

I sail in 35 days on GUAR and do not know my cabin yet. I check on the HAL website each day to see if they have assigned it yet. Not sure if I will get an upgrade or not but when I signed up they did not have any more cabins in my class of rooms "SC".

Last time we sailed with HAL on a GUAR our cabin was assigned about 3 weeks out. This time we are just two weeks away from sailing and still don't have our cabin #. It doesn't really matter---I'd sleep in a deck chair if necessary....:p

A deck chair huh. If I see you I will drop off an extra blanket on your chair. I will be in a nice warm HAL bed snoring away.

Last time we booked a guarentee we didn't get the assignment until 2 days before embarkation day.

One theory proposed is that the longer you have to wait for the assignment, the better the upgrade.

We hope the upgrade fairy visits you: let us all know how you fare!

We sailed on the Maasdom last Feb and did not get our cabin assignment until we got to the ship. The funny part was the people who origanally
had our cabin upgraded and the cabin still had their stationary in it, well we went to dinner that night and guess who was at our table. That's right our table mates were the people who had the cabin origanally.

The point is you can get your assignment anywhere from 1 Month out to the day you sail.

Have a good time

I usually book guarantees, and typically I seem to get them assigned once the cruise is less than ten days away. Now, that can vary, but that's generally when it happens.

In one case, my cabin number actually was assigned about 3 weeks out, then changed to a higher category 9 days before sailing. It was a very nice surprise!

Our experience with a HAL GTY upgrade, we didn't find out until we got pierside. I checked 11 days out and no assignment, then we were on a plane to Athens to stay with my sis-n-law for 10 days prior to departure. I had no chance to get on line and check but we weren't disappointed in our cabin either :) If you booked a GTY (Inside, Outside, Veranda, Suite) and you can live with any room in the group, then I wouldn't worry, I'd rather be suprised at the pier :)

Just got our assignment this morning--
(14 days til cruise)
We did actually get a cabin so I guess that I will have to wrangle for a deck chair just like everyone else. :D
My mom and sister booked GUAR at the same time as my honey and I---
wouldn't you know it---in that big ship we have cabins right next door to each other. LOL That will make it much easier to borrow stuff.

I booked the absolute cheapest cabin GTY and I told the HAL rep just get me on the ship, sooo we may get to see if the deck chairs make into a queen size.:)

Ok I'll be patient.

And everyone thinks if they do assign it, it will show up on the website even though I booked over the phone. They do have my reservations because they would let me into the excursion tool ( which by the way had no listings for any port on my cruise). but I don't see anywhere to log in.

Thanks.

We're 6 weeks out on the Zaandam repositioning cruise from Vancouver to San Diego. Still see GUAR in the Immigration form. We booked a Cat A so only upgrade potential is one of the S or PH suites. Cat A has been closed for a long time, there are S sutes abailable but no PH. I'll keep my fingers crossed but at the same time, am quite happy with the Cat A as well.
