Please share your experiences in a stateroom adjacent to an elevator. Will it be noisy?

Has anyone cruised in a 9A? Did it seem much larger than a category 8? Was your balcony much bigger?

Thanks!

We were in cabin 6267 close to the elevators. They went up to 6275 then the elevators so you must be past the eleavators. Don't have any idea what those rooms look like but our room I beleive would actually be closer to the elevator. Had no problem with noise from the elevators. Did hear alot going on from the balconies. We actually heard a couple fighting like 2 a.m. one night and I thought it was the next room but when I stepped out on the balcony I realized it was from deck 8 and a few cabins to the side of us. Anyway it seemed to me sounds really carried there. I have read posts of those who were lower and higher though who said it was very quiet for them. The balconies start on deck 4 and go to deck 8-so I wonder if it is just deck 6 and being in the middle of the balcony cabins that causes you to hear more noise.

If your room is an extended balcony I am sure it is nice. Our room was like 12 by 16. You walk into an entranceway with the bathroom one side and the closet the other side-this is about 2 and a half feet. Then you come into the 12 by 16 recutanglar area. First there was a couch with a coffee table-a built in vanity and dresser across from it and then the bed; the 2 beds put together to form a queen.

This was considerably bigger then the inside and outside cabins on the fanasty class ships. (which most of you know is much larger rooms then RCCL and Princess) So if you have an extended balcony you must have a really nice room-as I imagine the room is bigger too not just the balcony.

We were right behind an elevator on one sailing and right across the hall from one on another. It's not the elevator that's a problem it's the people that use it.

During peak times when we had a cabin by the mid-ship bank of elevators we would indeed hear foot traffic outside our stateroom door, but no more than a pack of kids running the hallways; annoying but easily masked by turning on the TV to a music channel or opening your balcony door if you have one.

Aft cabins (like yours)we've had by elevators have simply been convenient, no problems at all. I have shyed away from forward cabins being of the belief that they would be noisy because, depending on the ship, there might be more dining room/showroom traffic there due to the elevators close proximity to these places.

I think you'll be fine the only issue I would have with a 9A on a Spirit class ship is the price. Make sure you're getting a good value there. On Destiny class ships the 9A wraparound balcony cabins are an awesome value. On Spirit class they are bigger cabins and bigger balconies but not all that much bigger.

I've always booked an 8I extended balc on that class, believing it to be a better value, but that's just me

Happy Cruising
