What is with Carnival and shore excursions? They act like the prices are top secret. Most other lines not only give you pricing on-line but allow you to book in advance.
I hate to tell Carnival but they are losing money on me because I am a planner and if I can not get my pricing then I book on my own. I'm not going to take the chance of missing something by waiting on their pricing.

I've never had a problem getting pricing from Carnival. A simple email request to Customer Service and you'll have a list with prices and descriptions within 24 hours.
Booking online is another matter. Look how long it's taken them to get their website to where it is today.

I emailed over a week ago and have since gotten an email from them saying sorry it is taking so long but they will get around to me. When I called today the guy was clueless. It so much depends on who you get but that is just how it works. I have already contacted the places we want to go directly and will probably once again by-pass Carnival.

I've always just called the Carnival 1-800 # and asked that they send me the pricing via fax or email. The last time I did this, I received the email (18 pages, it was a four port cruise) before I was even off the phone with them!
I really think they are afraid to post the excursion prices in advance because the excursion contractors my change their prices.

Personally, in February, we found that most tours had gone up since May 2003 by as much as $15...on trips we'd taken b4...There are MANY "tours" worth booking , but also many you can just do on your own..CHEAPER.
My thought is Carnival gets a CUT by selling them, and people are clueless and not on this Board...Live and learn...LOL or, spend the cash... http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I emailed Carnival over a month ago and got the same "sorry it's taken so long we are backed up email" with no information. So, like lots of y'all I just booked on my own. Also, did not want to take a chance that things I wanted to do would get booked up - like the dolphin swim.

Right on Hoski, why can't Carnival post pricing for their tours? Sure we can E-mail them, request pricing and then wait for their answer but the best and easy way would be for Carnival to post the cost with the description of the tour that they are already providing on their web site. You don't think it could be the cost of some of the tours? .......... No that can't be it! ........... Can it?

Here is a list that I found on a TA website that shows all of Carnival's Shore Excursion prices.
Not sure when it was last updated but even if it isn't 100% accurate it should be a decent estimate..

I believe that list is pretty darn old, and incomplete as well. That belief is based just on looking at the shore excursion list for Cayman and COzumel on the Carnival site, versus this site.

I so Agree! I want all that stuff done and paid for before I step on the ship, which is why I booked independent tours in all ports. Sorry Carnival, you snooze, you loose!

Just got off with them for the Nth time about this. The e-mail they send now does NOT have prices on it. They tell you to go to their internet site. She did, however, give me the legend for the dollar signs on their site:
$ - up to $49
$$ - $50-99
$$$ - $100-149
$$$$ - $150+
They WILL give you prices on a specific one if you call, but only verbally. They said people were complaining when prices changed so they don't print them any longer.
Smart move Carnival, keep your customers guessing! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
Some day Carnival will embrace the Internet and allow us to book them on line like most of the other lines. Wouldn't that help them in their capacity planning too?

Mark,
They told me the same thing when I called. (e-mail would NOT have prices on it, gave legend for the dollar signs on their site)
But I emailed them anyway and they did include the prices when they responded. Good Luck.
