Hi, I will be on the Jubilee in a few months. I am new to the whole cruise thing. Any words of wisdom--most importantly any ways not to waste money. Also how do you feel about the Jubilee...likes, dislikes? Anything special I need to bring etc Things to do on the island and so forth. Really, information you would like to share or wish someone had shared with you before you went abroad. THANKS! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I actually have the same questions as you do, but I will be sailing from the 12-17 of June 2004. You'll be getting on as we're getting off. We will be sailing to the Bahamas as well out of Jacksonville, we're driving 16 hours to get there.

I will be boarding the Jubilee TOMORROW, 4/24 in San Juan. I can't wait, the flight from NH to PR will be a LONG one. I will let you know when I get back what the shape the ship is in, but as I will be in the shape of a ship we won't talk about that! (That was suppose to be funny)

Well... lol looks like nobody has sailed on the Jubilee in a while... I've heard that not many people on this thread really have much to say about the old lass... lol. Hopefully if we can keep this post afloat long enough someone will see it and reply...

Wow Dolly....you kind of scare me, as reviews are not too good that I have read for Jubilee...and very few in recent months....what have we done??

http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I've heard good and bad about Jubilee... Mostly will agree with me in saying that you can go on the ship looking for all her bad flaws and dwell on those flaws throughout your whole cruise OR you can go on the ship with the best attitude ever and plan on having a good time no matter what!!!
The way I look at it, its my first cruise and I didn't want to spend alot of money. The Jubilee is the perfect ship for this, she's much cheaper as far as the actual booking goes and plus she's small enough to learn the cruisin' ropes on. I think she'll be a great starter ship for us first time cruisers... lol... but thats just my opinion.
Happy Cruisin' to you all! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Well, it is my first cruise also...going with 22 others....so I know we can make our own fun!!!
I did have a post a few pages over asking about this ship...and the response is there...and the person has told me to call my TA and cancel, that is was horrible..... but like yourself, I have heard both good and bad....

Now that almost seems rude that someone would tell you to do that... http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif Sounds like they had a bad experience... I'm not high maintenance so I don't really need an awesome trip to satisfy me... although i think i am starting to regret booking one of the small cabins. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif But other than that I'm very excited and ready to have fun... http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Oh hey I did find some pictures of the Jubilee on another post but the lady who took them sounded really discouraged and very upset with her cruise on the Jubilee, but her pictures are really good.
Heres the link to the pictures.. Go to the 5th link down http://cruiseclues.com/photoclubs.htm
Hope these pictures help!

We are on the Jubilee July 24, and I'm not at all worried about the reviews. As long as you realize she is an older, smaller ship and adjust your expectations accordingly, you should have a good time. One of the best Carnival cruises I ever had was on Holiday some years back. The Jubilee is a sister ship to her, I believe. We're really looking forward to this cruise.

I'm with you!! We are booked on the 5/29 sailing, and I'm looking forward to just enjoying the ocean breezes, the sun, and relaxing with a good book on deck. I don't pay much attention to reviews, as that is just one person's opinion, and I'd prefer to make my own. Each sailing is different, as are the passengers. If you go on board expecting a fun time, that's what you will have!!

My wife and I were on the Jubilee last April. I was also a little concerned due to some bad reviews I had seen but we loved it. The food was good, the crew was great, and the ship was very clean.
Take individuals reviews with a grain of salt (including this one) because there's a hundred different things that can make a cruise good or bad. Some of those things you can't control but you can control your attitude and expectations.
If you look for something wrong with this ship or any other I'm sure you'll be able to find it but I think that baring Norwalk virus, bad weather, Montezuma's revenge or some other disaster, you will have a great time.

For future cruisers coming through Jacksonville there is going to be a Holiday Inn Express about a half mile from the port entrance. THey are building it right now, about halfway done. It's at the 9A/Heckshier Drive exit to the port. I'm going out to the port next week to check out the Jubilee because we sail on her sister ship the Celebration in January and I want to see this ship.
