View Full Version : Fascination vs. Fantasy (sorry - I'm sure this has been asked!)

I searched around but couldn't find anything comparing these two ships/cruises. I am considering both for a Oct/Nov 4-night cruise for my family of 5 (we're all going to cram in one cabin). My kids will be 15, 7, and 5 at the time. This is for the kids more than my husband and me so I'd also like to hear opinions based on which one the kids would prefer.
Thanks!

I would go with the Fascination only because of the itinerary. I've been on both ships and had a great time on both but I didn't care for Nassau. I took my kids on the Fascination and they had a great time.
As far as having all of you in one cabin, check out getting 2 insides. It was only $20 more each for me to get my boys their own cabin. I got them an inside and my girls and I had an oceanview. I have 4 kids and it was so much nicer to at least have 2 showers.

I second the Fascination for the ports of call. Lots of fun things to do in Key West, but Cozumel is AWESOME for kids. Go to the Ports of Call board for info.
I would also second pricing an inside and an ocean view cabin ...

Thanks for the replies. After I posted, I started pricing two cabins so that maybe what I do. My 15 y/o is a girl and the little ones are boys so I'm thinking girls in one (outside!) and boys in the other!!

While the ports are better on Fascination...the Fantasy is in much better condition.

My vote goes for the Fantasy. She is in much better shape overall than the Fascination due to the fact that she had a major refurb last fall. I thought that the Fascination was one of the nastiest ships that I have ever cruised.

Gordon...
Nasty as in dirty? We cruised Fascination last year and thought it was spotless...and we're going again May 10. Silly to repeat with the ship, itinerary, etc., but chose to go for a sure thing and explore parts of Cozumel we missed last year.

I was on the Fascination a couple of years ago and I also thought it was spotless. I didn't notice any thing that needed repaired.

Yes dirty. To each their own but I know clean and I know dirty and this ship defined that term. Hands down the worst ship that I have ever sailed on for more reasons than the above mentioned item. Things can change but IMHO this ship had no where to go but up.

They must have cleaned up their act in the years since you sailed her, Gordon. I'm very picky about being in a clean place...the idea of sleeping in the same bed strangers slept in the night before creeps me out. But truthfully, last year, our cabin was just spotless!
Hope we encounter the same thing next month...otherwise, I'll sleep on deck!

No offense taken at all. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif We all have our own opinions of what we like and dislike and use this board to share with others. That is one thing that makes cruise critic so much fun. Again, I hope that your cruise on the Fascination is fantastic.
