We have just completed another GREAT Las Vegas CC HAL Board Get Together. This time our Guest of Honor was Julie Jack who is a Gift Shop Manager on HAL Ships. She just finished a term on the Zuiderdam in Alaska. Julie will be going home to Liverpool and in September will be joining the Statendam.
It was another great night of talking about cruising on HAL, Talking about and seeing recent album of pictures from Jim Hannah's Noordam cruise. While others of us talked about our up coming cruise.:D As Always lots of good food and fun and chatter.
Many thanks to all that come make it this evening and Thanks to Julie:)
Of Course there were pictures taken.
Here is a link to pictures.

Lisa -
Thanks so much for sharing your photos! Maybe we'll be able to make it to one of your get-togethers in the future - we're not that far away. :)

Thanks, You know that we would love to see everyone here in Las Vegas. If just for one night we all feel like we are on a HAL Ship Dining with friends and talking about cruising. It may not be the Rotterdam Dining Room or the Vista Dining Room but we still are talking about how much fun and how much we love those Dam Ships:D
Bill, wish you could have made it last night but I am sure there will be another very soon.
If anyone is coming to Las Vegas be sure to let us know. This group loves to get together:)

Laura, we would love to have you and Sonny join us. I know that you and Copper are not that far away.
What would be fun is to have a planned weekend Get Together here in Las Vegas.

Well, we might be easily persuaded, lol! I'd love to meet everyone!
Also, I feel like I need a vacation from my vacation, if you know what I mean. Sonny has no time off till next year - the main reason we had to cancel the HAL-O-ween group cruise on the Westerdam, but he does have a few 3-day weekends coming up... ;)

Well ... why don't we plan a weekend outing for CC folks? We could, among other things, venture up to Mount Charleston for a picnic. It's less than an hour drive from the Strip. I was there yesterday and it was 77 degrees with a wonderful breeze, and the gently warm sun was producing a wonderful pine aroma to waft all around! Get the picture???? ;) When would y'all like to come?

bardgal: (with apologies to you and the Bard)-though it would be nobler to witness thou's show, we shall be absent during your visit, a'sailin on the vessel known as the Noodam. What fools these mortals be! ? Hopefully you will return anew! :)

ha ha - "Bills S" - how perfect is THAT?!
:D :D :D
well, as you'll be sailing the seven seas, BBB (Big Bad Bill{S}) has been around for over 400 years, and since this is the 20th anniversary of Nevada Shakespeare In The Park, chances are we'll be back. (Although it's been ten years since I was last involved.)
oh, and the proper use would be "witness thy show,".

bardgal: I humbly beseech thy forgiveness!
Your production sounds like great fun-I have driven by the venue in Henderson-it is a pretty neat place, not very far from where we live - Lisa lives a bit closer to it than do we. Hopefully we'll be able to see you the next time around.
Thanks for the association with William S! :)

I feel like a kindred spirit, having just visited his birthplace in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England. (Beautiful town, by the way.)

Well, when is the get-together?????? Someone set a date!!! I keep getting all these "last minute" airline deal emails....
Or perhaps, we could venture on a little drive? I think it's about 15 hours though, maybe plane would be better....

Laura, definitely don't drive, a TED flight would be much easier. When would like to come? I know that Tom and I cruise next month(although just a quicky) and BillS also cruises next month on the Noordam. We also cruise again in November. I think everyone is available in October.
Is anyone else interested in coming to Las Vegas in October? We could have a really BIG CC HAL Board Get Together.

Heather, Tom (DH) mentioned to me that you wanted to know who was who. I am sorry I missed your comment.

Going left to right first we have Jim Hannah and his wife Donna, then Don and Kay (DoxieMom) then Julie, next is Pat and Tija (SeaGypsy1) Then those short people on the end are Tom and I.

Bet ya it's a nicer drive to Vegas from Colorado than it is from LA  - Hours upon hours of excitement:rolleyes:

That reminds me, John, of one time when Ed and I drove from San Diego to Las Vegas. It took us about 4-1/2 - 5 hours.
I was standing in line waiting to check in and I got to talking to the man in line behind me. He had just flown in from New Jersey and it had taken him 4-1/2 - 5 hours also. He had been sitting on a 'plane drinking a cocktail or two and watching a movie while we had been driving through a hot, dusty desert.
We had fun in Vegas, as I'm sure he probably did, and then we had a 4-1/2 - 5 hour drive back home through a hot, dusty desert while he was probably back on a 'plane drinking a cocktail or two and watching a movie.
Valerie:D
p.s. Oh Jim (jhannah): I'm so glad that you enjoyed Stratford upon Avon - I was raised not far from there, in Gloucestershire, and that area is a particularly lovely part of England. I know it well and love going "home" for a visit.

But you get to see the world's largest thermometer in Baker and don't forget Zzyzx Road! (The two things my kids looked forward to the most in our myriad treks from Utah to Hemet to see the grandparents until they finally gave up and moved to Utah when my dad retired from the California Highway Patrol eight years ago.)

Los Angeles to Las Vegas is the drive from He%*.... especially if there is traffic (which used to just be on a holiday weekend) - but gee, these days when isn't there...
I'd rather go to the dentist and have teeth pulled than do that drive anymore, lol! At least from Colorado, it's not usually too bad, but it's been years since we've done it. It's just easier and cheaper to fly now.
October may work, but we could only be there on a Saturday and Sunday (possibly Friday afternoon)....

I could curl your hair with tales of our drives to L.A. from Las Vegas (not including the things that happened between Salt Lake City and Vegas even!)--bloody noses, emergency potty stops ("You should have faced away from the wind, son!"), shredded tires, kid choking on licorice, dust storms, and one trip during a hot, hot June where we were stuck between Baker and the state line for two hours because a mini-van had overturned with ten people inside and tragically six were dead.
But my absolute favorite trip over that 600+ miles was the one where the Oosterdam was waiting at the end! The drive home, however, nearly cancelled out the cruise. I don't think we'll ever drive to the port again. (Unless the 'big one' comes and Salt Lake City suddenly becomes a port city. :D )

Sorry again for not making it to the Vegas get together but it was very nice talking with you on the phone once I arrived in the city. It sounds like you all had a very nice time. I will be back for a visit sometime soon so will keep watching the board for future announcements of another meeting. :)

Alison, I too wish you could have made it, glad to see you are back home. Hope you had a great stay in Las Vegas and that your withdrawels were bigger than your deposits:D You were lucky the weather was warm but not terribly so and nice.
Let me know when you return because this group loves to get together and welcome CC members.:)
