I am sailing on May 31st. I called my online TA and told them about a price drop that I noticed and they told me that since I have already been upgraded that there isn't anything else they can do. However, the TA told me that when we are checking in to tell the people at the desk that I noticed the rates have dropped, and ask if there is any way I can be compensated. Has anyone ever been given a credit at the dock before getting on the ship?
Seems like a long shot but like the TA said, "it can't hurt to ask".

I dont think there is ANY way that they will compensate you at the pier. Basically, the people at the embarkation areas have no idea, nor do they care what you paid for your cruise, and I don't believe they are even authorized to adjust the price.
IMHO, the TA is passing the buck. If your rate dropped, it would be the TA that would need to adjust the price for you, not the lady at the embarkation counter. She said that since you've already been upgraded there is nothing more that they can do? Many other people on this board have found that they were credited price drops, even when upgrades were given. She may not be able to, or willing to, but I've never heard of a TA telling someone to ask the people at embarkation for a rate adjustment.

Make sure that this is the last time you use that TA. They got your cash and now you mean nothing to them.
Just my opinion.

When I noticed a price drop, my TA called and was told we would get a $100.00 credit, but both the TA and myself had to get on a three way call and basically bully the guy into it. When we got on the ship-guess what? You got it, no credit to be found! I did, however write down the date and who I had talked to and inquired at the desk once on board, and the next day, the credit appeared on my account. It took some serious persistence, but eventually, I got what I thought was a fair price.

Once you get on the ship they will not compensate you with an upgrade or credit. You should have your TA go to bat for you now.

Thanks for the responses. I am probably becomming a nightmare for my TA. I had a problem with them in the past after I booked. I called and complained about the TA and was given $120 which I added some money to and upgraded to a balcony. Later when I saw the price drop, I called and told them about the price difference, and then was upgraded to an extended balcony. Then when the price dropped lower I'd call and each time I was told, that since I'd already been given an upgrade there was nothing they could do.
Do you guys still think I should pursue this? I have no problem calling and calling them but I keep getting the same answers over and over again. In fact, I don't even deal with a TA anymore, I am put through to the "customer solutions" (or something like that) department.

ABSOLUETLY call your TA, and next time be the wiser and do the arramgements with CCL yourself. I have done it for all of my cruising and seem to always get the lowest price-after all they have the knowledge firsthand as to what they need to sell, and it is much easier dealing with them directly rather than through a third party ,incidently who you are paying a commission to. But be sure to get written proof of any credit you are promised, especially the on board sail and sign -better safe than sorry. I am fully paid for 5/10 and I called yesterday about upgrading (two weeks out is a good time to start playing the game with them) but I am already as high as I can go, after my operator talked with a supervisor though, he came back and said they would be able to issue a $30 on board credit for each of
us though -two points here. First be aggressive, do not take the pat answer of no, ask for their supervisor. Secondly, I immediately asked for his name and a faxed copy sent to me (proof in writing) Good Luck and happy cruising.

Just called my TA and told them I cannot understand how there can be a considerable price drop and I cannot be somehow compensated because I already had an upgrade. They would not put me through to the manager because of a "meeting". I got the same girl again and she is irrate with me and is no longer patient. I normally do not give grief to anyone but in this case I was getting upset.
She once again explained about the ONE upgrade per booking, (she also claims she REMEMBERS telling me this when I was upgraded!!!), so I got off the phone with her and called Carnival, got a supervisor and was told the same thing, ONE upgrade per booking. He did allow me a shipboard credit for $25 per person, but is only doing this as a courtesy to me and this is not something that is usual.
I had to call my TA back again, (didn't want to do this) and tell her to call the Carnival TA which she did while I was on hold. She got back on the phone with me and told me she would add this ship credit to my paperwork and then proceeded to make sure that I know that this is a COURTESY and not usual.
Although I am happy about the credit, I feel like a 3rd grader who just did something bad and am now in the corner.
I deal with people everyday in my line of work, I can tell you that I go out of my way to make people happy. I cannot understand how some companys allow their employees to talk down to their customers like they are taking the money right out of the employees pocket.
ARGH!!!!!! I feel dirty!
